I have recently bought a mk 3 cupra running the gt2860rs turbo 300+ bhp.The cars pulls really well once up in to 3rd once theres grip, but the traction control is a complete nightmare when trying to get the power down in 1st and second without it on,cutting in and out temporarily just ruining the performance basically, and with the switch turned on you just can feel your not using its full potential.i have searched this forum and google and not really found anyone talking about a solution to this, except someone saying something about removing the speed sensor off the hub will disable traction control but in doing this you will lose abs which i dont really like the sound of. Has anyone running big power on here done this? or does anyone know another way to disable it? Thanks.

Hold down the TCS OFF button?

I do not believe there is any way of permanently disabling the traction control without also losing the ABS. One thing you have to ask yourself is: if you crash your car during spirited driving and your insurance company finds out that you've knowingly removed a proven safety feature, what will they say?

There is a way, im sure its to do with reversing the wiring on teh switch or something. Im not 100% sure.

I'd like to know, as the first thing i do when i get in mine is switch it off.

As i said i dont like the idea of messing with the abs and see your point, but i dont see why when i choose to switch the traction control off and i want to use my car to its full potential, racetrack or whatever, i should have to put up with it cutting back in on me.ON should be ON and OFF should be OFF.

I dont think i understand the question?
you only have to press the button once and its completely off until you press it again or turn the ignition off.
mine is anyway, it doesnt cut back in at all and would let me smoke the tyres all day?

it can be disabled. im sure i can remember someone doing it (possibly alex@ backdraft??)

If you turn it off, it's off. As long as the warning light stays lit up all the time on your dash it means it will not kick in AT ALL. I have a mk2 Leon so mine is a bit different as I have ESP too, I can turn the TCS off and it will let me spin the front wheels up all day long but if it senses directional instability (oversteer or understeer) it WILL intervene.

Just get in your car, start it, press the TCS disable button. It will stay turned completely off until next time you start the car.

Lol ive only been turning it on hav'ent i and thinking when the light is off the traction control is off not on lol. really sorry people for this and thanks for the wake up call, just been out in it and its fine with it off, feel a right idiot haha

I know ridiculous sorry lol.thing is i had a ko3 ibiza a couple of years ago but never messed with button as it hardley ever came on interfering so never took much notice of it, but now ive got this power you cant not notice it lol

Haha good job :D

When the light is lit up all the time it means it's OFF

When the light is off that means it's ON

When the light flashes that means it's ACTIVE eg stopping wheel spin

It's on by default every time you start the car, if you press the button to disable it, it will stay off until you next start the car :)
