I have just been to a local independant VW specialist, who has done me a good job, and want to recommend him on here. Am I allowed to, or does it breach any rules ??

Personal Recommendations are what its all about, but when it turns into an all out PR exercise, advertising prices etc etc, thats when it falls outside the boundaries

As Empi5 points out we don't like it when they turn into a marketing exercises though to keep on plugging them.

I have used him previously, when my Octavia had a problem with one of the vacuum pipes, and he spent 20 minutes fixing it, and wasn't going to charge me, and I have just had a similar experience today, when I've taken my Altea across for the auto-locking doors de-activating with VAG-COM, and again he wasn't going to charge me !!!!!
He is an all-round top bloke, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Phil, Zboyd has pointed you in the direction of where you need to put your recommendation, and it isnt here !
I just want to reiterate what altea phil has said really. I would recommend Steve Allanson to anyone, he did my cam belt and waterpump last week and today he has checked and cleared my coolant temp sensor fault code.
