After deciding against getting a set of HID's with all the fuss about MOT's from next year, I've decided to just get a set of bulbs which will pass. Which are the best between the Phillips Blue Vision and the Osram Nightbreaker Plus? Looking for something as close to white as possible.

I believe its to do with whether the lighting unit originally came like that, ie not aftermarket. But anyway, I fitted some nightbreaker plus bulbs not so long ago and was suprised by how decent they were. Might have just been a difference from bog standard ones, but considering some people have said they were a bit yellowish, I was very happy. I have a few pics in my RR in this post.

Hope that helps

I'm on my 3rd set of night breakers, they are much better than the standard H7 bulb and not really that expensive if you shop around.
My girlfriend commented on how bright they were when I turned my lights on until the M3 parked next to me turned his lights on and his were so bright it was like I had my side lights on! L0L

Seat have MOTd my car with HIDs in and I only got an advisory for: "Bad Beam Pattern due to fitting of aftermarket Xenons."

Between Blue Vision and Nightbreakers, choose Nightbreakers: Blue Vision are painted blue so you'll get less light out.

Unless you care more for looks than actually seeing down the road at night, of course.

The Philips equivalent of Osram Nightbreakers is X-Treme Power (boodly awful name though)

Have got rave reviews from many people and sites

Any chance you could get some pics when you've fitted them mate?

I never really do any night driving to be honest. Just want something that looks white :D

I might actually go for the HID kit and risk it. Could always swap them over for MOT time I suppose. Are these any good?

I took my HIDs out for the MOT and didn't bother putting them back in as I know a few people that have had issues with the Traffic Police due to them - seems Police in some areas are really cracking down

I have Nightbreakers now and have been quite impressed overall - still have my HIDs which I was going to sell actually...

What side lights go well with the bulbs? H7 is the correct size aint it?

H& is correct for dipped beam yes, you wil struggle with sidelights imo there either one way or the other imo , anything that isn't an LED still shows yellow and LED's seem to have a blue'tint to a certain extent, just varying degrees of. Usually, you find most performance bulbs have a set though i.e you can buy a sidelight version of whatever the H7 is.

i have Osram Nightbreaker Plus in both dipped beam, high beam and front fog lights, and i would recommend Osram Nightbreaker Plus to anyone who ask, special for the dipped beam its very good.

if you also want more white sidelights, you can get the side light bulbs of a vw touareq with xenon. they look blue but light up more white then normal ones.
also if you want the clear turn bulbs you can get them from the vw lupo 3L front turnlights.

There's another one too that I find to be better than the night breakers but I can't remember the name, I have night breakers in the main beam and these other ones in the dipped beam and they're a bit brighter, I'll find out and let you know what they're called.:)

I've already got some white LED sidelights I fitted earlier and clear indicators were already in there :)

Cheers mate. I don't like looking through the adverts for them as they all show bright white, when in reality they are more yellow. That's why I would rather peoples opinions.

I know and a lot of them are pants, I only know of the other ones because my mate sells them in his shop and I made sure I could return them before buying them but they're really bright and none of the blue light. The blue isn't so good in the wet I find and living up in Scotland that's a problem lol:D
