Although i've always preferred red Ibiza's to any other colour, so in my eyes it was a good deal.

I doubt I'd be able to insure an FR mate let alone buy one

there not that expensive about £4-£5k for a good facelifted FR or about £2-£4k for a 130 sport
and insurance on a standard car is very similar, just pic your insurer carefully

I'm 16, 17 in a few Months.
Been saving for an Ibiza since Christmas and only recently landed myself a 'decent' job that will ensure I have enough by September at the latest. I know what you're going to say, don't get a 1.9 as your first car but the thing is I've been into car for years and had my heart set on one. I plan to keep it for a number of years though and wont be an with it. I'm not into boy racer stuff
