Anyone used them?

I fancy a 45mm lower car.

Coilovers seem a little steep for myself.

A friend of mine had them on an A3 2.0 TDI.

He preferred them over standard, however he later got an Eibach pro kit (just springs) and he preferred them to the PIs. The PIs were firmer than the Eibachs.

Is it more like a back breaking ride is it?

Would I need to shorten the bump stops...

People say shorter stroke shocks also, but is that totally necessary?

It's not too bad.. its better than the eBay coilovers, then again just taking your springs out completely would be better than those lol.

When I had them on my GP I never bothered changing the shocks.. I put them on the car when it had like 300 miles from brand new and sold it with 20,000 miles and had no issues at all.

i would rather get these than coilovers because of the price aswell.

Can anyone answer if they will be okay to use with standard shocks?

They will fit, but will put more stress on the standard shocks and they will wear out quicker.
Also the rebound rate would be different for your shocks and springs...

I just look at the price of coilovers, say for example AP's and in comparison to the cost of my car.

Pi springs = 3.7% of the cost of my car.

Where as AP's = 15.2%

When I get my next car I will buy coilovers as proportionally the cost of coilovers to the cost of my car will be alot lower.

I just can't justify the cost of Coilovers on a car which cost me £2500.

Why not buy the ones off ebay?

I have them on my car as do many others.. some people say "buy cheap, buy twice" but tbh you will have to replace your shocks after a while anyway as your car will be bouncy as hell.

how long do you reckon the shocks would last on these springs? how do you know when there on the way out lol :funk:

It depends how shot they are now and how much strain you put them under.
Could last 1 week, month or year.

I had -60mm springs on my old car with standard shocks and they went in approx 2 months. Your car will just be bouncy as hell and wont 'absorb' the bumps.

Well it can't get any worse than what it is.

I can get Bilstien shocks cheap through work if I had to replace them. :D

I would try buy a matching pair just now if possible as they will have a matching spring rate. Would also mean you only take the car apart once rather than fitting the springs now then the shocks later :)

All round I would say £140 for standard replacements.

It all depends on who you know ;)

I'm replacing the top mounts this time though, as mine are well worn.
