Hi guys

Just for people considering buying bigger wheels and lowering their Formentor.

I will consider 20" myself but stick with 40mm lowering due to the danish regulations.

The wheels in the video are JE Design Twin Five 8.5x20 ET30 wrapped in Pirelli P Zero 245/35R20 (The stock wheels are 8x19 ET40 with Bridgestone Turanza T005 245/40R19).

In the video it seems like it's a pretty flush look - at least in the rear. Although, from my experience it might poke a little in the front because VAG cars with haldex 4WD runs a little wider wheelbase in the front to reduce understeer.

Below are some stills from the video:

And a quick photoshop if anyone, like myself, wanted to see how it would look on a black car:

Are you jumping ship @Lehn ?
Oh, busted! ;)

Yeah a lot have happened since I got the S3 3 years ago. As you might know from audi-sport.net my S3 is a van (because of the ridiculous car prices here in Denmark) which means it only has the fronts seats but because of that I got away with "only" paying 50% in registration tax when I bought the car instead of 150% for a car with all 5 seats (£65.000 vs £100.000).

In the mean time I've met my now wife and we're now looking for a car that can fit child seats while also having room for a dog - while still being fun to drive! Since I don't want to sell any of my organs the more sensible choice would be to chose a Cupra Formentor instead of a e.g. Audi Q3 Sportback. The Formentor costs £66.000 here in Denmark almost fully specd whereas a 150hp 1.4TFSI Audi Q3 Sportback with the same extras costs £77.000 - so for me that's a no brainer considering the Formentor comes with basically the same engine as my Audi S3.

The Audi S3 will get sold today so we'll have to live with my 3 door VW Up until our Formentor arrives - and we haven't even ordered it yet because it hasn't arrived at the dealers yet here in Denmark... Sigh...

Yeah your "van" is cool but you wont be disappointed mate. I can only say after owning S3's in the past the Cupra Ateca is a hoot to drive, handles extremely well, the progressive steering seems better than the S3. I have just set all my air pressure in my tyres as they were far to hard from factory. Set them at the recommended settings and car glides in comfort mode. So much more tech is standard on the Cupra and it all seems to be working very well (ie smooth & intuitive).

Forgot to say, I wasn't that impressed with the Q3 TBF and for yourself to get the Formentor is a no brainer. Look forward to hearing your thoughts etc when you get the new beast. Oh and for clarity, my facelift Cupra sounds like my 8V 310ps did, much better than the 8V 300ps does.

I'm glad to hear that you think the Formentor would be the right choice over a Q3! And regarding the sound I hope the Formentor will sound the same then because of all the people complaining about the 300ps FL S3 with GPF on ASN :censored:

A friend of mine has the PFL Cupra Ateca, he told me my facelift car definitely sounds louder, farts/pops etc. In my opinion it has the new 310ps engine but Cupra wont say that not to damage future Formentor sales :thumbup:
