Piper Cams Ultimate Road Cam Kit

Hi All,

Im thinking of adding a cam kit to my list of things to do before my big day down at awesome gti for my stage 2 remap, im interested in Pipers Ultimate Road Cam Kit, it kicks in from 2500 - 6500rpm and boosts power by 20bhp across the power curve, will fit vernier pully too so with this in mind will i see with the power rise with the stage 2 to 250bhp????

Curious to no where u can buy this kit n the cost ? Its hard to say whether u can get 250 bhp from a standard k03s turbo cause the flow capacity from wat I ve seen in my experience is around 230-240 mark max anything after dat n turbo won't b lasting very long , if u looking for big gains Mayb hybrid route is ur best option.
I no the uprated cams make the engine rev more freely n driveable but in sure with custom mapping u can get the car mapped to ur needs anyway

The cams will help the engine produce maximum bhp then the mapping will just up the boost so potentially and theoretically you will see a gain kit is around £500, your not changing the timing with a cam kit but the intake and exhaust valve strokes basiscally opens them bigger for longer, not only that they sound awesome too. its good old fashioned tuning, i do want to go big turbo but we are talking £3000 for what i want, this is intermediate stuff im not a horsepower number guy just someone who wants a nicely tuned sweet running car, big crazy horsepower is my future plan along with a wide body project but its an ongoing masterpeice thats ever changing.

250bhp is achievable from a ko3 turbo. But from what jabbasport told me things like cams aren't worth while as fel delivery on the cupra isn't the problem. As said above if you want more power go bigger turbo but 250 is achievable on these turbo's as its been done by people on here without cams etc just a good map and the right mods

was thinking maybe if i could get more from the block itself i wouldnt have to push the standard turbo too hard with the boost levels required to acheive the same bhp without cams?? i may just be totally wrong???

i was interested in fitting aftermarket cams in my LCR as i'm going to need to get my head gasket done at some point as i have an oil leak from the head gasket and was going to have the head ported and polished as well as skimmed then fit an oversized gasket along with the cams and vernier pulleys

if i wasn't needing to do the head gasket i probably wouldn't bother but as its all needing to come off i'm going to do it

In theory u right i guess but the internals on 1.8t vag engine is good 4 close 350 bhp so personally I tink it's unneccessary.

whats the signs that oil is leaking from the head gasket i think ive got the same problem:(

when i start the engine up the oil is bubbling from the head gasket on the right hand side of the block. the leak is bad enough that i'm having to top my oil up every couple of weeks.

when checking through the mountain of reciepts i have i found one for a gasket repair kit :headhurt:

looks like my LCR has had the head gasket done at some point in the last 18months. and if its leaking all ready i reckon when its been changed the head hasn't been skimmed on it.

double check that your leak is from the head gasket and not the rocker gasket tho

ive done the rocker and its still leaking ive got oil on the turbo housing ive had the turbo checked and its fine so its either the turbo oil seals or the head gasket.

hmm. not convinced.. 200g/s from a k03s?

cam wise i have not seen a cam yet which does'nt loose some low end but give some top end, BUT, k03 has little top end

cam chain tensioner half moon gasket, they practically all leak after a few years, easy repair, oil runs down the right hand side of the block above the flywheel
