You can buy smooth ones already in primer as I recently bought some for mine.

About £150 for all 4....quite pricy but there perfect.
When we used to restick moldings on at work we found they never really used to fit right again hence all insurance companys pay for new ones [if there stuck on] so you get a proper job.

A very thin very strong double sided tape as thick tape will make them sit proud of the door.

Im thinking of using some adhesive stuff I bought from a car parts chop which i used to stick my spoiler back on when it got ripped of by a bike rack, hopefully that will do the job?
