please confirm... water pump?

i have an oil temp gauge and the last 3-4 days i have noticed the temp climbs quicker than usual and reaches higher temps... was about 90/100 now pushing 120. first thought was dodgy sender. the temp comes down slowly when idling but soon climbs once on the move.

tonight i drove a bit more spritedly and suddenly the water temp hits 120! alarm beeping. pulled over and it dropped slowly back to 90. fine after that until i got sprited again then back up to 120.

popped the bonnet and both fans i could see were happily purring away.

havnt run vagcom yet but i thinking from searches that its the impellor and or pump?

will i need to get a brass impellor myself for seat to fit? anyone have a part number? cost? supplier?

well does sound like the water pump.

it runs off the cam belt so cost wise its a cam belt change plus the pump. - not cheap.
and while you are there best get a new tensioner.

something you could do yourself?

golf one would probably do !

German & Swedish do metal impellor pumps.. ~£35-£40
also do cam belt kits inc tensioners.

theres a 1.8t cambelt guide on the main site pat,water pump should be pretty obvious when you get the belt off
