Has anyone felt that after clenaing the Cupra they get dissapointed on how pinky and dull the red brake calipers look?
when washing and they are wet they look nice deep red and glossy as soon as they dry they have a horrible powedery pink look to them.

so instead of going the whole hog and refurbing and spraying has anyone tried polishing them and did it make any difference?.

btw i only use natural eco freindly wheel cleaner and not a solvent based 1.

cant see why you couldnt polish them. would certainly look nice and bling. just depends if you can spare the time and stubbing your fingers alot:)

robdf2,

I was wondering this too mate. Im off at the end of August for a week and I intend to try and polish up the calipers.

I was going to use an old meguiars polishing pad, some autoglym super resin polish and the G220 machine polisher to try it. Once polished I was going to seal them with some Collinite Wax or Poor Boys Wheel Sealant.

If they dont polish up I will be repainting them with red engine lacquer then sealing them once dry.

Let me know how you get on if you do them before I do.

I suffered the same problem with my seat sport calipers....so i invested in a tin of clear laquer....these are the results...

i have the same brakes as the cupra above i washed them with soapy water then i used auto glym super resin polish then some auto glym extra gloss protection on them and they have stayed the correct colour ever since although i only did mine about a month ago. but they are so much easier to keep clean now and they havent gone atall pink since thankfully.

I put a bit of T cut on my rears as they were pink, it did bring them back to red but they soon faded again, A few weeks ago I gave them a blow over with a normal can of clear laquire and they still look as good as when I did sprayed them, It only took about 10 minutes to each one aswell.
