I'm just after a few experiences off this.
Basic story is I had the car 2 years now and it's on it's 3rd turbo, old owner had one replaced and I replaced the old kkk one with a garret.
Had the siren noise before the old one failed and then replaced it and had this siren noise since replacing the blown one a year ago.
Is there any other causes of this noise because it's gone a year without going but I was listening too it ok way home Today with no radio or fans on and it's quite noticible in low revs

That's a good start, however, doesn't rule out possible oil starvation.

I wouldn't of thought it was too serious if Darkside allowed it out of the door in the first place. You sure it's coming from the turbo, not alternator bearings or A/C pump?

Normally the siren noise on a failing turbo lasts longer throughout the rev range than just that small section.

Did you get any warranty with it? Well I suppose it would be irrelevant if it was done over a year ago... I would ask for a second opinion from someone who can see and hear it in the flesh :)

My Cupra tdi has had this same nosie for about 3 years and not had any problum with it turbo is still fine it still pulls strong and no lack of power.

Also my audi a3 pd140 makes the same nosie and that standerd and once again been perfectly fine for the last year so in other words I wouldn't really worry about it.

As a good old saying goes ( if it not broke don't fix it )

Haha I think il go with this and stop worrying.... Il put the last turbo failure down to something else, there's no dodgy smoke or loss off power like you say so will hop it's ok:)

I know of a Leon FR PD170 that has had this siren/owl noise from new and it still has it now over 100k miles later withl the original turbo. Sometimes I think it's just the boost whistling inside the turbo hoses like a reed. Who knows what sort of funny air currents are going on inside the turbo hoses with all those bends etc in them.

My TDi Cupra has made this siren noise since I bought it and it's covered over 10K with no problems.

When I bought the car the previous owner had fitted the Miltek exhaust with the de cat pipe. The siren noise as far as he was concerned could be heard because of the de cat. He said that it was the sound of the turbo spooling and de spooling.

However a different noise occurs occasionally. It normally happens when the car has been parked overnight and the temperature in the morning is quite cold. When accelerating away from a cold start, a high pitched screech like siren noise is heard and there's no boost. I've been told it could be sticking veins in the turbo or temporary limited oil circulation through the turbo. As such I know the signs now and take it very easy on a cold winter's morning until the noise subsides, usually within a minute or so of driving.

I have a similar noise very much like a police siren on my fr170 only between 1500rpm and 2500rpm all threads I have looked at on this topic haven't really filled me with confidence and was wondering if anybody could tell me for sure what it is

only owned her for 3500 miles and only ever been in one other one which didn't make the same noise but wasn't looking for it at the time.

I was a little worried at first but had the car well over a year now and it's still running and boosting as it should. I put it down to miltek exhaust and larger intercooler
