Had my service and made sure i had the correct psi in the tyres and the car seems a lot smoother, however the MPG has'nt really changed. Remembered last year that my car took a big dip in mpg in the winter and in addition to this took another seemingly 3-4 mpg dip in the summer when i went from my old tyres to new Falken 452's. In retrospect i think my mpg is o.k at between 39-44mpg for my 10 mile stop-start, small A road commute to work.

blimey, with that sort of journey i can't see the engine getting warm and a hot diesel is always going to perform better. wouldn't have thought you'd get warm enough to use boost even.

Silly question maybe but what do you mean by boost ?. My temp gets upto 90 about halfway into my journey and the Turbo always seems eager enough, although i never push it before it gets to temp..

Ahha, now i'm wiser !, on average how long dose it take for oil to heat to temp then, with my style of driving i tend to aim for economy and never to push it beyond 2800-3000rpm as there's plenty of torque / turbo below that figure.

speaking and reading the threads, oil takes approx 15min and about 8-10miles if i recall to get nice and warm.
only real way to know when warm is temp gauge or looking at vag-cm while driving (obviously not a got option but one non the less)

Oh well just getting economical then as i'm pulling into the car park. Still cheaper than getting a similar size petrol car and besides i much prefer the power delivery, thanks for your help :)
