yeah but lets face it coming from a scooby background and your use to that unique sort of burble sound, you aint going to get that from a 1.8t. If that's the noise your looking to achieve but to me a Leon wouldn't suit that anyhoo.....i must be getting old

You'll never get the Scooby burble and it wouldn't suit any other car anyway. I think the OP is just after some popping on the overrun, when you lift off of the throttle and the revs climb down. I used to get this alot on my old Civic running a Cat-Back 2.5" HKS system, it sounded absolutely gorgeous, very touring car-ish, much like the Integra DC5 in the BTCC, and that was with the Cat on too.

The scooby sound is due to un equal length manifolds I think?

My exhaust is a custom one but its same diameter all way through, no nasty restrictions or crap like that

I have no idea, could be a characteristic of the Boxer engine? All I know for certain is that to change a manifold on a Subaru is a complete b*stard and I never, ever want to touch one again!

As you say about poping on overun, that is normally down to the mapping, which is richer and retard the ignition and you get pops, bangs and the odd flame. The megane sports do it and it sounds immence.

So say you got a TB exhaust, took it for a Stage 2 map, could the map be tailored to do this on VAG cars?

I'm not expecting a vag to sound like my Scoob used to with the burble and general noise, I was just after a slightly better noise from it thats all!

Its mostly the unequal length manifold that makes the Subaru noise but as has been said, it really wouldn't suit any other car.

Just looking for maybe a bit of popping on the overrun or a bit more of a growl if i give it a bootfull, from what everyone has said I think my exhaust is a particularly quiet one as it will not pop at all, even decatted with all resonator boxes removed.

I think my next step will be a different turbo downpipe and possibly backbox, hopefully that will make a fair difference.

I don't want a superloud chav mobile! Just trying to get a little bit more character out of the engine note.

Not sure if the Seat's are the same but when you remapped the Scoobs you could get an antilag effect mapped in if you wanted to. It basically just overfulled a bit on the overrun and kept the turbo spinning a bit, even off the throttle.

It was usually only a very mild form though as aggresive anti-lag / overfuelling map really isn't great for your turbo! There was a case of one guy who got a super agressive rally type antilag map on his car and it completely screwed his turbo in about 2000miles.

Most tuners will know what is a safe level to run though, I know Ecutek offer a specific map with an anti-lag effect on it that just causes the car to pop and bang a little and maybe even get the odd lick of flame now and again but shouldn't cause any damage to your car.

You would have to ask somebody that maps them, it would have to be a full custom map and not a genric one installed.

I've got a CB custom exhaust which will be upgraded to DP and sports cat soon, it gives a nice rumble on overrun, it does sometimes give a little pop now and again and is louder than OEM, before I found a split hose on the N75 I could get it to give a loud pop whenever i wanted but doesn't do it on cue anymore, which is a shame as I was going to go to a rough part of Sheffield to see how many people jumped on the floor when it popped

TBH, we recorded all the episodes when BBC3 played them start to finish but it was on our freeview box and we've just had sky put in again, freeview box is in the bedroom now, will never tire of 2 pints

De-cat and non res, mapped will sound good, shame we cant get them sounding like R32's with a supersprint on

There are a few LCRs out there that sound amazing and I think most run the BlueFlame non-res from the turbo-back and de-cat. I'm waiting for a damn k04 manifold to be made, I am sure that'll make things sound a little gruntier and should see some flames then

JBS have a cast one in the pipeline after they dropped plans for the equal length and Badger Bill is exploring the possibilities of the Extrude Hone process for boring out and smoothing a stock manifold. I'll try Bill's first as it's going to be cheaper but i'll source a 2nd hand manifold for the process just in case it wants to crack, I can then stick my OEM one back on.

Ive just cleaned the ports up on my stock manifold with a grind stone, got it bit smoother, hey wont give me big gains but nothing to loose have i
