i have done the head gasket on my car as you might have heard on this from all my other threads (sorry by the way) but after doing it the heaters dont go hot and it seems to be pressurising. ive changed the thermostat the rad and the head gasket what else could be causing this its realy weird if i leave the coolant cap loose it doesnt over heat but when i tighten it the temp started to rise. im hoping its just an airlock or something like that but knowing my luck it will be something expensive. also i thought that the matrix might be blocked but neither pipe going to the matrix get hot so the water isnt even getting to the matrix im puzzled  hope someone can help

cheers

not sure mate i know its been changed years ago and had metal impellars put on but that was years ago.. how can u tell if its gone? if it was the water pump would that cause it to pressurise?

I'm no mechanic but if the pipes to the matrix ain't heating up then something is pumping the water around, that's just my view, like I said I'm no mechanic I'm a body man haha

wish id changed it while everything was off... gonna have to change that tomorrow. il give it a go see what happens cheers body man!

I had this when doing thermostat, left it for ages and didn't get warm. Gave it a couple of hard revs then took it for a blast. Went hot straight after.

ye ive tried taking it for a spin im just worried about the coolant pipes getting pressure in them ive just changed the gasket and rad so dont want to damage any of them again.

water pump was faulty now getting hot heaters!!! but the new thermo stat doesnt seem to be working the pipe coming from the stat is cold wen all others are hot and theres still pressure build up

2 reasons 4 this mate it will either be the water pump mine did it a few weeks ago and the plastic prepellas snapped off. Take the water return pipe off the header tank and if its got a good amount pushing through while running its sound and the other reason is a major air lock which i have also had before so what u gota do is get someone 2 sit in the car and hold the revs about 3500 and keep loosing and tightening the lif on yah tank an this will force it around yah system. But 2 me sounds like yah pump pal hope this helps :-D

yeah ive changed the pump this morning that was the same as yours jay and afterwards i was getting the heat through the blowers but theb thermostat doesnt seem to be openning even though its brand new, but like skud52 said it could be a faulty thermostat even though its new... il just have to try another new one on monday. or run it without for now see if it still builds pressure without a thermostat

It sounds like an air lock then. Run it 4 10mins and see if the bottom rad hose gets hot after the stat i thought i got a goosed stat aswell but it wasnt. U seen 2 be havin all the problems ive just gone through lol£how was yah cylinders in the end? Did u get yah head skimmed an all that? Put mine on rr tday and mad 213 :-D happy days

Test the stat first as said they have been know to be faulty out of the box

Regarding air locks just run the car untill warm then squeeze the pipes to push it all out by the sounds of it you know what your doing tho ;)

just for reference if you want to test the water pump all you need to is take the star out and stick your finger in the hole, then to the left you can feel it just try to spin it, if it spins it fuked! You should NOT be able to doing it by hand ;)

good tip that mate i just took it all apart to check it and luckily it was faulty the lad before me told me he had put the metal impellar pump on it but when i took it off it was a plastic one had broken into 3 pieces. theres nothing else that could be wrong ive changed everything on it now cost me a fortune!! im just hoping that its a faulty thermostat now.

jay ye ive skimmed the head and got it pressure tested and everything was fine with it.. i just took a chance on the cylinders though i put it all back together and hoped for the best i done a compression check when it was back together and the compression was a lot better than before i done the head so i was made up and it seems to go ok alot quicker than my other 8 valve cupra haha. but i havnt been able to take it for a proper drive yet because of this thermostat problem

fingers crossed it an air lock dude, you've spent enough on it with having other problems!!

tell me about it i dont think it is an airlock though been for a drive and everything and still the same im just gonna try another thermostat i think or try running it without one see if its better then

Sounds like a pump packed up to me or you could of damaged the new headgaset when putting the head on if so the compression is pumping into your coolant systerm, might be wrong but just a little advice for ya mate
