hiya,

i own two cupra R's & the boot will not open on either car - Grrrr! i found a link on here yesterday with instructions to remove the cover & grease certain places but it hasn't worked properly on either car.

i think i've sussed the first one as the cogs in the motor compartment aren't staying in sync - do i need to order a new one & are they easy to replace???

on the second it works fine while opening & closing etc until the car is locked, then when i come to unlock it again the bar which moves across is twisting downwards out of position so that the interlocking black release misses the section it's meant to move into to enable the boot to be opened by the handle on the boot.

does this mean i need a new lock or is there a fix for this problem???

any help would be much appreciated...;)

thanks, Leander :)

You have two Cupra R's? Greedy get

The first one sounds like the motor/solenoid is duff. A new one shouldn't cost too much and they look easy to replace.

The second one is strange one. You need to look at the horizontal bar and see why it is twisting downwards.
Has a mounting point snapped or lug? etc... Might require a new handle.
Difficult to say without seeing it.

At least you have another to look at to see how it should be :)

thanks for that...

can't see any reason why it's twisting & my friend's driving the other one at the moment as her car died a few months ago so nothing to compare with at present - i'll have a drive round tonight and compare to see if there's anything missing.

do you know if it is a new lock or handle that i need?

For the second one I think handle. I can't remember off hand but I think the lock is seperate part.
Not had a look at it for over a year now.

PM Nev_LCR he's recently taken his handle/lock to bits to spray it. He might have more of an idea.

hi mate, not 100% on the second one, you can only buy the full handle from the dealer for £70,

is it the handle twisting??
