I have recently just fitted a new EGR valve to my seat ibiza FR and this has not solved the problem of my car I was then told by an auto spark if that was not the EGR valve it must be the black solenoid box that sit above the drivers strut. So I just received the solenoid valve block yesterday and fitted it. Still the engine management still is on. I don't know what else it could be. Starting to think maybe a wire or the loom might be broke. If someone else has/had this problem I would be grateful for solution.

I gather, the EGR is not working for some reason, but could you supply more details e.g engine, fault codes, has it been mapped, general back ground info really.

infoon seat ibiza fr

Apologies for not getting back sooner to you. My car is a 2005 seat ibiza fr 1.9 tdi 130bhp the car has not been mapped and the code that is coming up on the computer is: P0489 Exhaust gas recirculation control circuit A low I hope this is enough information and thank you for all your help.

How long have you owned the vehicle, is the fault a recent happening? From the age of the vehicle, I'm assuming its the BLT engine code? Error Code P0489 seems to be a very generic code, it may be worth getting a more VAG specific diagnostic done. Have you got access to Vag-com diagnostic software and cable? If not do a search on the forum about it.

With Vag-Com you should be able to test the EGR cycle using the Engine output test.

Have you checked the Vac pipes between the Solenoid box and the EGR?

diagnostic

the cars age is 2005. I have owned the car now for the past three years it just recently has got this problem very annoying I took the car for diagnostic to an SERE garage in Northern Ireland (this is a seat dealership) and they tested the EGR valve and ran a diagnostic they told me the old EGR was faulty and I hav recently replaced it but still no joy. All the vacuum pipes are in the correct place as I checked each number to each pipe.

ps. sorry for not replying to you sooner as I was not in the country and had no access to a computer.
