Problems with misfiring

It started last week i was driving it and decided to give it alittle and the engine management came on flashing so i pulled over and turn the engine on and off the light went off so i decided to give it alittle again and it came back on and was misfiring everytime i tryed to accelerate pritty fast, the light then stayed on no matter if i turned it on or off, i took it straight to seat and they did a " software update" on the car because something needed updating, they said it was misfiring on cyclinder 3, and doing that update has solved it, i went out this morning and sett off from the lights give it alittle and there u go the lights back on, seat had AA out this mornin and he said nothings come up when he plugged it in so he advised me to go seat for them to check again, im waiting for a call back now just wondering if any of you guys had any experiences like this? Many have mate, a few solutions available, replace injectors, coilpacks and spark plugs once update done and that should hopefully resolve it. Alternatively get the NGK platinum plugs put in which should also resolve it. Let us know how you get on and get SEAT to sort it asap or you will be needing a new engine at some point.

Cheers for the reply pal, should i let seat have alook at ut first because its booked in for thursday, see wat they say and ill question them about the different plugs, any idea how much they are? Has anyone found any better injectors that fit on these?

Be sure to be firm with them and mention these issues that have been discussed and tell them it is a common issue and you would like it sorted as soon as possible. Feel free to tell them too of the fixes you know about. You can get the spark plugs at Euro Car Parts or any other supplier that deals in spares. Let us know how you get on mate.

it was the spark plugs mate they had it done the next day. he did mention to me before he looked at it that i could need a new engine, but i got lucky =] all fixed working like new

Mine had the engine light come on that indicates missfire, though I never felt one. the second time it happened I emailed them saying im aware of the issues and I want replacement injectors,coil pack and sparks. They rang back next day advising they had already ordered the parts for them even though they hadnt seen the car.

Hope yours gets sorted mate! Touch wood mine is running fine now.

EDIT: and mine is an 11 plate with 2000miles on it now.

well i dropped my car off today they said they was goin to have another look at the spark plugs and check the coilpack, i asked the guy to check to injectors and the fuel pump for pressure just for peace of mind, just hope it doesn't go again with the same problem!!

Im going to get my FR remapped soon, have spoken to the place who r doing it about missfires they say its an issue with coilpacks. Not that i have had any misfires but il be having the packs and sparkplugs done.

maybe its just frying the coilpacks because of the engine temp who knows just a guess, do the cupra come with oil cooling kits on as standard?
