just wondered if anyone else has had any probs with wheel bearings on the MK1 Leon.
My Leon started making a noise last week took it to the Dealers today and the guy came for a drive with me as he thought it was possibly the tyres (he tells me they had lots come back due to noise specially on LCR's) but after a drive hes thinks it is the wheel bearing...anywasy booked in for thursday now.
Any one had the same prob, is it a common thing on MK1s???

Not heard of it as a problem myself. If it was me, I'd leave it. If it is a wheel bearing it will get really noisy (no risk of the world ending though) so you can clearly work out which one it is. Its often rather difficult to suss that out at first!

is it a 210LCR?

why do you say this? has the 210 had problems with bearings?

i have a noise that i can hear on the really smooth new roads like a '' dut dut dut dut '' noise and can only think its this or the cv joint.

these really shouldnt be going at the sort of mileages you are mentionning
and although it is something you may ignore for a while, it can be a very dangerous problem if the play gets worse

It would have to be shot to bits to be dangerous, but I just meant let it get noisier to identify for sure the failing one (if it is that). Certainly not leave it for ages.

I had a rear wheel bearing let go on my bike at the end of last summer - you can't herar bearings grumble because of the rest of the noise, and it disintegrated very suddenly. Trouble was, I was just turning into a sweeping right hander at around 80mph when it happen.......certainly puckered up the seat material that day!

yeah i had both rears replaced on my old gt-four
by time id left it a month i could feel the rear end wobbling
ooo err

I thought mine had killed a wheel bearing recently but changed the tyres and it went. Was the harder compound of the ytyre towards the end of the wear marker.

I have the same noise coming from my FR. It just so happened that the tyres needed changing so i did that but the noise is still there.

When driving round an indoor car park i also heard this slight grinding noise almost like the brakes were on whilst I was driving.

Im Puzzled to say the least!

Do what i did mate get it down 2 the dealership...i hope its just the tyres... i defo got a friday night car!! 4th time its been in, in 11 month!!!

On the LCR I had, when the rear tyres got down towards the legal minimum, at around 60mph it sounded as if the wheel bearings were gone. The faster you went the quieter it got. New set of tyres cured it.

Hope it's the same for you.
