Mk2 Golf VR6 Conversions are very driveable by all accounts. Apparently the VR6 lump is only about 25kg heavier than the 2.0 16v block.

All you'd need are some high rated springs and you'll be fine :D

And you can't beat the sound of a VR at full chat :D

Also, you can S/C or T/C the VR at a later date.... ;)
i'd prefer the sound of TB'S, 2.0ltr16v 1.820v or even vr6 running them, lumps are cheap but the acessories are expensive

VR6 on TB's? Surely that would need a fairly fruity inlet manifold, especially if you wanted to use a barrel per cylinder. Most aftermarket TB's i've seen intended for car applications are twin barrel, so 3xtwin barrel TB's would be required, with one unit having a barrel feeding a cylinder in each bank. That's going to be "interesting"... I've never heard of anyone doing triple barrel TB's, but I know Weber used to do triple barrel carbs? Using a heap of singles is an option, but that's going to get a bit pricey. And I don't even want to think about rigging the linkage...

1.8 20v on TB's - now you're talking!

SF bodies..

need 6 of them and a whole lot of linkage...
they need to run 90' to butterfly centreline run top down to accomodate proximity of port centres being so close... and sequential management req'd to cope with the unequal length port runners into the back 3 cylinders.
It has been done..

space from cyl head to radiator/front panel is really tight.

If you want to do something different, a G60 16V........as used in golf limited but available from Bahn Brenner in the US.....lots of dough though and easily more power available from a 20VT...but it would be different

Noted - I wasn't saying it was impossible, but that it would present some interesting challenges. A VR6 on TB's would not be the simplest option by any stretch of the imagination...
