So I filled it up with 42.72 litres of petrol at £48.24 and it worked that I was doing 18.2MPG since I last filled up with £20 which lasted me 144 miles, I don't understand why I'm getting so bad fuel economy!

£20 petrol lasting 144 miles is around 30mpg. Not exactly but thereabouts.

Yeah £20 of fuel lasting 144miles isn't that bad if you do city driving. My 1.2TSI does 37mpg when taking it easy. However when I'm driving normally it gets 32mpg around the city. Then on the motorway doing the real speed limit (77mph) I get 48mpg. I hoped for more but it's still good.

I ended up driving to London and back to Leeds and used a full tank of fuel. Which is roughly 500miles so that's just a tad under what Seat advertise.

So last week I finished my 1st full tank and I left it as late as I could to fill it up with the range reaching 5 miles and I lasted 272 miles, and worked out 28.9MPG, what sort of range is everyone else with the 1.4 N/A getting with a full tank?

Interesting thread and made me register here to comment! I've got probably the most boring Ibiza going, but in terms of fuel economy I was averaging somewhere in the high 50's when I was bothered to record my fuel/mileage (don't have a trip computer). Nice and cheap to run though!

In case it doesn't show, it's a 1.2TDI Ecomotive S. Still fun to drive though, just have to work it a tad...!

dm222, the (dangerously hot) weather you are getting right now has its advantages, even in central Scotland and 23C today, I was getting an average of 58.8MPG with my wife's August 2015 Polo 1.2TSI 110PS SEL with its AC on most of the time over a 60 mile round trip - normally the best I had for a round trip is 54.6 with no AC on - but temperatures below 20C.

the TSI has better mpg, I cant get much better with the 1.4 than this.

I think that as it was a long trip the weather doesn't influence as much, if it was short trips I think it would influence more.

1.0 TSI 110 DSG I can get (if 30-50mph roads) usually mid 50s mpg,
max I've done is 61-63mpg little traffic (below). My range actually went up ahaha!

City from East to West London Sun AM, 46-50mpg (sticking long times at 30mph or thereabouts with traffic lights). Max was 58 mpg (below)!

Highway only (65-75mph) 47-55mpg.

East London to Heathrow via city, and back via M25, 54mpg.

Oh and btw...all these wonderful max mpg was done with Shell VPOwer 99 RON

The person who delivered my car managed to do 150 miles @ 57mpg...when it was brand new.

Just did Grimsby t' Manchester and back at 75mph and 48mpg so the old non-turbo 1.4 really surprised me there. 50mpg should be a doddle on a long trip with less speed or hills.

Same engine as me.
The problem is thr mpg driving around town is bad.
But for long travels is good enough

I get 55.4mpg average going (25 miles) / 40 mins down the dual carriageway and 50mph roads usually. And that’s driving normally/ smoothly. I have the 1.4 Toca 2013. It’s not too far off the official stats actually :)

By the way, for anyone that does know this, on the current range of Polo/Ibiza/Fabia and no doubt others, the "picture" of the car on the MFD screen moves across the screen as the fuel level in the tank drops! I did not know that at first, and when I I read it I thought that someone was talking rubbish - but no!
