Pros:
- Adjust the height to exactly how you want it.
- Can go a lot lower than a spring setup (Off the shelf anyway).
- Can also adjust dampening on some kits at the higher end of the scale.
Cons:
- Higher cost than springs.
- You should re-grease them every so often to prevent them from seizing, so depends how much this bothers you.

- Extra 2 years worth of warranty which you didn't previously have.
- Much better ride over standard, much more responsive.
- LOWS!

- Have it too low and it will scrub.
- Some shocks leak fluid, but usually fixed under warranty.

On the wheels you have looking at your pic - 16" Sport alloys with 45 profile tyres? Coilovers are mint. Harder than standard but much less crashy, if your budget will allow go for AP's upwards
Based on a normal coilver, where just height adjustable
Pro's

* As height determines damper travel, can get rubbish handling if very low
* Hard to set up properly to equal heights
* Rear camber will go out loads when alot lower (so you need camber plates/shims)
As long as you are not stupidly low, they can be advantageous, unless stupidly low is what you want (which I did, so didn't care too much for handling, but didn't want dangerous).
