Proud owner of a new leon cupra 1.8t 180 bhp

Hi

so after searching for 5 weeks i finally found a leon cupra worth buying, it was a mission away but after 7 hours i am home with my new girlfriend

comes in red on a 2003 plate with around 67000 miles, im 4th owner, fsh

engine is a little dusty and alloys slightly kerbed but the car interioir and bodywork has to be a 8.5/ out of 10 .

Will be looking to do few subtle modifications once my insurance is confirmed

Yep,think thats the only size the rep come in

I'll be putting 10mm spacers on at some point just to bring them out a bit

Yeah they defo do fit . Got them on mine . Plonked 20 mm spacers on mine to bring them out alittle.

Thanks man, i normally dont go for red, was after a black or yellow one, but the paint work on this is mint,

i will get it remapped soon but im trying to sort out a exhaust and get it lowered before that and fit on a boost gauge,

what kind of gains will i be looking at from a stage one map?

Generic stage 1 is 210bhp and more torque and better throttle response. The max power these cars make on the stock turbo with a few supporting mods is around 240bhp biggest restriction on these engines is the downpipe and exhaust. Swap the whole system for a 3" downpipe and turbo back non restrictive system and a good airfilter is a good starting point. Also the coils are prone for going. Especially after a re-map so replace with good ones and you will be fine. Any problems or questions just ask. We are all happy to help.

thanks for the detailed response brother, ive already got a forge split r dv and jetex induction kit on there, ive been looking at some exhaust systems and they retail at excess of £350 wow!

anyway just for heavens sake, if i was meant to push it to around 230-240 , what kind of mods and money would i be looking at?

also is it true with remaping a car your turbo is more likeley to fail quicker?

Well if you want to fully max out the current cars power then you need.
3" downpipe and de-cat/sport cat ( toyosport 3" dp and de-cat £100)
High flow cat back exhaust (£350+)
Front mount intercooler (toyosport £230) some say a front mount is not essential but does help with the warmer weather.
Also a silicone turbo intake pipe will be a worthwhile mod. Some say the stock tip is restrictive And others say it does the job. (toyosport tip £55-£60) other benefits of a silicone tip and also any breather pipes is stock pipes perish and can collapse. Crank case breather is the main culprit.
With these mods and the ones you have you can max the stock turbo.
Some mappers ask for a 4bar fuel pressure regulator and others don't. So whoever your getting your map done from ask them first. As far as I know it's only Revo that use the 4bar.

And as for turbo reliability. Many are running around 240bhp with no running issues or reliability problems. Just make sure you go to a well reputated mapper from this forum and don't have an aggressive map as you don't want to damage any internal components. The stock clutch can handle the power but it will show weakness in a clutch on it's way out.

anyway so intercooler im not too fussed about, but basically

full exhaust down pipe etc
Turbo intake pipe
crank case breather
By saying breather pipe you mean air box induction kit etc? as i already got a jetex on it mate
remap

and optional extras are intercooler and 4 bar pressure regulator for fuel?

quick question will the remap be a stage 1 or a stage 2?
also which exhaust kit have you got on yours and is yours pushing around 240 bhp?

The OE inter cooler is to small which is why the LCR has two, your LC will be pushing the same power as the 210 LCR on a stage one but with only one cooler and more on a stage two, IMO the front mount is money well spent and you will notice an increase in torque with a Front mount along with cooler intake temps which is what its all about with turbos.
