Question for anybody who has fitted an aftermarket stereo PLEASE HELP!

Hi,
Recently bought an fr and have a pioneer double din stereo to put in it, ive got the wiring harness adapter but from my stereo i have a yellow and red wire like most stereos do, my problem is that the leon only has to my knowledge a red wire which both the stereo wires need to feed to for it to work, all sounds good so far but then when i take the key out the stereo is still on and the one ive got has no option to turn fully off or take the front off so im relying on the iginition cut off wire!

hope everyone gets what i mean, has anybody had this problem or done it? any info would be much appreciated, im guessing there should be an ignition wire as the original stereo used to go off when the key was taken out?

Yes this is a problem with the leon. You need to buy a special can bus cable from connects 2 that has a built in ignition switch. See link below;

Its about £45 for the adaptor. The other option is to run a separate ignition switch to the fuse box, depending how good you are with diy car electrics.

I had the same problem with my leon sport but found the easyest way was to take a switch live from the back of the heater controles as the sterio is only switchin a relay it won tak very much power so wont disrupt anythin i had mine wired for a year n had no problems

ok thanks mate, ive found this for the steering wheel controls but it looks like it has the wiring for the ignition wire too, cant find just a can-bus adapter but this does say for can-bus vehicles so i think it should work?

Connects2 stalk adaptors also have a CANBUS data feed in that also gives ignition back into the ISO harness.

cheers mate, i found that out on another site selling it, ordered one now so should come tomorrow or the day after

One more things to anyone with a pioneer avh-3200bt radio, does your cage stick out alot from the facia surround, mines got like 2 bits top and bottom that stick out and it doesnt look right but there isnt any other way of doing it really

ok cheers, can you see the cage a bit around the edge? i also dont think im going to be able get the plastic surround bit on, have you managed get one on?

LeonFSi look for seremotors on here, he'll sort you out with the exact one, i highly recommend him for parts, next day superfast delivery too my dealer was rubbish and messed it up but he sorted it out straight away

The cage cannot be seen and it has the plastic trim on it too, i have made a thread comparin it to a Erisin stereo and it can be seen how it sits in my dash

ok cheers mate, managed to do it now i didnt think the plastic trim was gonna fit on aswell but turns out it does with a little gentle persuasion lol also got my dvd player working anytime i want now so happy days
