Either I've got a bomb under my bonnet, or there is something dodgy going on :S

When idleing I can here a ticking coming from the driver-side internals under my bonnet. It seems to be originating from one of the many sensors/wiring boxes attached to the fluid tanks on my driver-side. The timing is perfect, regular tick-tick-tick noise :s

It's got me paranoid as to whether there is a problem. Getting to a garage is tricky for me, working 9:30-5:-30 mon-fri, there aren't many ways of getting it seen to.

It's been serviced regular as clockwork by Garney's SEAT in Essex, apparently, every 10,000 miles with all major replacements done at their specific intervals.

Anyone got an idea what it could be?

Thanks.

yep.... its a bomb. leggit:D

its a pump or somthing. nothing to worry about. do a search mate for a more technical explanation!

It's the carbon filter purging. It's obvious at idle but goes away once you're on the move. If you look under the bonnet it's on the drivers side very near to a green cap.

Superb. Put my mind at rest. Thanks guys. And yeh, it is RIGHT next to that green cap thing. So that's definitely the sucker.

Ta guys. Very much appreciated.

Hey screw you, Pabs :p i did search.. i found all kinda of tapping/ticking related crap.. but nothing relevant :'(

As above I heard same sound when I first bought the car and delear assured me it was a normal sound at idle. I also started a thread on this subject ;) which i'm sure Pabs has already found ;)

Well it's well and truly confirmed then -its a normal sound :S

I can't wait till the next person asks this question! I'm going to spam them with searchy searchy, like my hero, Pabs :D
