Hi,

today I was playing a bit around climate settings and found that there is an automatic air recirculation on the settings of it. However I’ve also the manual button.

I believe that auto recirculation will work only when operating auto AC as well, what I don’t get (and would like to confirm if that’s the normal behavior) is why I can’t have both manual recirculation and auto AC on (to adjust the temp). So, as soon as I enable AUTO AC it will turn off the recirculation button, is it normal?

Bonus question: I’ve enabled with Obdeleven auto defrost of windshield. Just curious about how it works, does anyone have it?

thanks!

I think, from experience of other VW Group cars, that the recirc flap motor in reality has 2 flaps, so it also partially controls the direction of the air movement in the cabin. Now if that is true, then disabling any "auto" control of air movement and temperature would mean knocking the system out of auto mode as the controller would then be limited on what/how it could retain/maintain control of the cabin air flow and temperature.

@RUM4MO So, basically, you can't have manual recirculation on with Auto AC as well, right?

Not sure I've understood this but I have my a/c on auto and manually then press the recirc - all seems OK.

Sometimes the recirc cancels (usually I realise it has because of the disgusting diesel stink) after a short time and I do not know why. Re-pressing the button works.

@cupra14, when I press Auto the amber light on the button will be on and as soon as I press Recirculation button, it will switch off (plus turning the AC on as well). If I then turn off AC, Recirculation will still be on, but as soon as I press Auto, it will be off.

TL;DR: I can't have both AUTO and Recirculation buttons on (mk3 facelift - 2018). Can someone confirm this?

I have also the auto recirculation option available in the console but doesn't seem to play any role here.

Thank you.

Bump, can anyone confirm this please? Is it possible to have both AUTO and Recirculation at the same time on? (Both buttons active with amber light at the same time).

Thank you.

As I posted, it's OK to press recirc in a/c auto mode (and doesn't stop a/c auto). Just works.

Except occasionally it self-cancels. No idea why. Pressing recirc a 2nd time seems always to work.

Well you might if you have driven through a "nasty smell" zone or ended up behind an older, ie classic car.

I also read that on freezing cold days, using recirc when you first start off lets the cabin get warmer quicker as your warming the cabin air, not the sub zero outside air.
