ramps behind the front wheels.... that would mean having them under the car...... most ramps I've seen are 8"-10" high!

When I had my LCR on standard suspension, and using ramps, I used a 2" block of wood, as a 'lead-in' on to the ramp, as the bumper (no splitter) caught on the ramp otherwise.

They don't sell the Arcan jack in Costco anymore - that's the brand that my mate has and it's good! The one I linked to looks almost exactly the same though.

Bugger, that's a shame, was thinking about getting one with cash I got for my birthday recently!

The Arcan is still available on ebay though, but at about £120. Used to be about £60 in Costco!

No, the caravan levelling ramps are roughly 3" high. You can get larger but obviously in this case you won't.

Hard to tell whether these are 2 3/4" or from 2" up to 4" but anyway - http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=25112&xSec=1984

I been looking at getting a decent trolley jack recently as my cheapo 'Challenge' one needs to be binned. I went to Costco today and they're selling the Arcan 2T trolley jack again. This time it's £101 incl VAT! The cheapest I've found online is £125.

It looks like it's very good quality but I'm not sure if I want to spend 100 quid on a jack that I only use occasionally.

Has anyone bought any of the jacks mentioned in this thread?

I'm pretty sure this jack is sold under several guises. Clarke do a version of it for 90GBP from machine mart.

I have had 2 of them, the first one broke after a fair bit of abuse, the second one is still in my car and performing well.

I think the only difference between the Clark and Arcan are the front wheels. Is your jack really big? The one in Costco is huge.

I was looking at these kits you get in B&Q and Halfords, it's about £50 for a 2-tonne jack, 2x 1-tonne axle stands, some wheel chocks and one of those tray things on wheels you use to go under the car. Wouldn't that do for me? Only occasionally want to jack up the car, like to clean wheel arches/brakes etc. Don't see how a £100 trolley jack can be that much better than one for £30 or so?

Altech - My mate has the Arcan Jack. As you say same as the clark bar the wheels.

The big difference is it's got a long extension, easier to lift the car. The release is also controlled from the arm so you don't have to remove the arm to drop the car.

Also Forge are selling the same type for £90! you can get the same for £75 from EBay.

I phoned Costco a few days ago to see if they had any jacks left, (all the similar cheaper jacks online have all increased in price to around £130 delivered!) I was happy to hear that they had loads in stock and were now priced at £83 incl VAT :). I picked one up on Tuesday and I'm very pleased with it. It fits under my car without me having to drive onto wooden blocks. It also lifts the car effortlessly and is really stable, unlike my old small trolley jack!
