Hello

My 13 plate FR made another visit to the dealer to sort out rattles in the door cards and A pillars. I also mentioned suspension noise and creaking doors.

Padding was added to the A pillars and a part changed in the left door card to prevent a loose cable from rattling, also felt was added to the inner door card, well that’s what they said, didn't do any of this with the first visit. Still get a rattle from the top right hand corner of the passenger door, which seems to be slightly looser than before the car went to the dealer. There are however a few other things which I have mentioned without a solution.

CREAKING DOORS
Does anybody else experience creaking sounds from there doors? When driving on uneven surfaces or say for instance mounting a curb (via a dropped curb). I get some awful creaking sounds like the car is falling apart. My doors seem to creak, especially when I pull out of my drive and also while reversing back. I also get creaks when a road is particular bumpy and when turning sharply. If I place pressure to the outside of the door when closed on the rubber seal it does make a creaking sound, not sure if this relates. Rubber seals perhaps? I have tried silicon lubricant with no affect. I do believe the doors have been readjusted twice now as well...

SUSPENSION NOISE
My suspension also seems to make a groaning, creaking noise, which happens when also pulling out of my drive onto the road (The drive is sloped slightly). This also seems to happen once again while on very rough roads or turning sharply while at a low speed on bumpy roads.

Can anyone please share their experiences and solutions.

Many Thanks :)

For the doors and boot I remember users either using foam or added rubber tubings to mount within the door seal to prevent movement.

Not sure normal is the word I'd use but I know the new golf also suffers. A quick look on their forums show it has similar issues to the Leon. All cars will have their unique quirks but some you learn to live with and others drive you insane. Lol

so are the creaking doors normal, my last car which was a pug 308 didn't seem to suffer with this problem.

Let's call it 'characteristics' as the SEAT technicians like to say, it seems to effect a fair few cars so I wouldn't worry too much, but see what the dealer can do

I have this same with suspension. When is raining day can't hear anything. Maybe it is stabilizer bar and some of connectors. Other thing may be some plastic covers or any other plastic elements?
About doors I found something on youtube but I'm not allowed to post URL's so I'll put only end of this URL watch?v=AdehMhAPu1g

I can't seem to get the above link to work. Regarding the noise I have been driving a 65 plate Seat Leon these past few days and there is no creaking from the suspension. It has however got the annoying rattle in the passenger door which I believe is a cable, not my car though so not my problem. Do prefer the chunkier steering wheel. :)

As for the creaking doors this seems to be present on the 65 Plate as well, this is a 3 door, mine is a 5 door. The doors don't creak as much but they are present as times.

Just want confirmation that somebody out there has experienced this problem with the suspension/shocks and has had it rectified by Seat. There is a post kicking around here somewhere but there was never a conclusion and the post just hit a dead end...

Thanks for those who have commented :)

For the door creaks, if you press on the door from the outside and it creaks, its usually the part of the door that touches the rubber seal, best thing to do it clean the inside of the door and the rubber dry (removing any polish) and them just put some rubber slick or Vaseline on the rubber to reduce the squeaks

As for the suspension, ive had mine sorted, it was my front rhs creaking and it was a quick service fix

I finally had some coverage regarding the creaking suspension, Seat will be carrying out a TP they received on the 25th of September. I can't remember all of the details but i remember something about bearings which will need replacing and a modification, 2.3 hours of work in total. Im no mechanic so when i have confirmation of all works carried out on the 10th i will post it here.

I was rather cross considering i took my car in at the beginning of September regarding the suspension noise with no verdict or fix. I asked them why they hadn't contact me since they have a TP. They told me TPs are only carried out when owners point out the problem at the time which I find very hard to understand, some owners for instance may think the creaking suspension is normal, hence no repairs will ever be carried out.

Mines just come back from a 2 day stint at my local dealer.
I had an issue with the hazard button was sticking, rattle from the speedo display cowling, airbag clockspring failed and clicking noise and finally creaking suspension.
Your right in that the wheel bearings are what the creaking is but they remove them grease and replace......this solved my problem along with the rest listed. I had only one issue.......I drove home to find a metallic scrapping noise on turning right so went back a few days later to find the dust disc cover was bent all sorted and happy once again
