Hello.

Only had my car about a week or so and all of a sudden it's started making a funny rattling noise.

Driving down the road it all sounds lovely until you hit 2,000 RPM then there is this horrible quite loud rattling / maybe even grinding noise from somewhere? It carries on until you get to 2,500 RPM or above and then goes away :wtf:

Can anyone shed any light coz it's worrying me lots.

Thanks :)

I got a serious rattle/vibration after 4500rpm. Got underneath it and looks like its the centre silencer rubbing againts its heat shield.

Cordoba_Dude16v i have the same problem, my leon tdi makes the same noise... i dont have a clue what it is, the exhaust sheild rattles sometimes when idle, but ive noticed when the torque kicks in there is a small rattling noise, it could be "tappits" (not sure of spelling)...

All sorted!

There is a protective plate that protects the CAT. The bolt at the engine end of the CAT had worked loose and was rattling around at certain revs. Tightened it up and all sorted

Not so naive as dumb, cheers mate it was pretty obvious wasn't it!!
I can now check to see if its the same problem rattle i'm getting
