rcd 510 safe pin?

Bought a dab rcd 510 today and just wanted know if I need to wire in a safe pin as the quad lock diagram looks different from the others I have seen, my car is a pre face lift

Just the crappy standard one, I know I have to patch into number 15 but the diagram on my unit looks different

yeah you'll need to wire in the safe pin otherwise it won't power on, splice off pin 15 iirc

Tried to wire up the safe pin today, the unit had power but no screen but I think that was dlwn to not having the correct connections so I have ordered the female iso

Now my old unit won't even ****ing work, so annoyed, anyone know what the problem could be?

All sort, fuse had gone, just got to wait for the iso connections to fit the new unit

2nd attempt at fitting today, works a treat and got the seat start up screen too.

I've noticed your car is pre-fl and I'm considering an RCD510 for my pre-fl Cupra so wondered if you'd mind answering a few questions?

Do all the steering wheel buttons work as they did?
Was there any VCDS coding required?
How difficult was the dab aerial to route and where did you mount it?

Hi, the steering wheel buttons don't work, I guess I need to get them coded or change the iso conections around on the unit

The aerial is really easy, you just run it behind the glove box onto the windscreen.

Thanks. I think I'll leave it then, I really like having the buttons! Having said that, I really want DAB too. I'll have to decide which I want more.
