There's always this one, i don't know where your located though!

56 plate, 45k miles, £8000. Also has cruise control too, that the one you're looking at doesn't! At an independant you should be able to get a little more money off!

Unfortunately SEAT may have done their research a bit more since telling you it was going to be £7995, and realised they're maybe pricing it a bit too low!

Haha, maybe so!

....There is in-fact one on autotrader for less price, less miles and newer. It was just convenient that it was close by and I wouldn't have to travel...

In an ideal world the best deals would always be round the corner but be prepared to travel for the car you want...in the scheme of things the cost of a tank of fuel against spending £8k on a car is peanuts really.
As Erijaso has already mentioned you'll likely get a better deal through an independent. We got offered around £1k more p/ex and new car was £1k less than Seat dealer prices when we swapped our petrol FR for a diesel. The dealer was over 100 miles away but the deal was well worth it..

Well just went down to see it as they said it'd be in today; however it wasn't "due to the weather" - fair enough, happens I guess.

They gave the details of it, told me all of the usual stuff (goes through the check, has a valet etc), and the price of £8500. So yeah, not paying that.

Heres the funny thing; the salesperson goes "we have a new model, same colour just more expensive you can look at to see if you like the insides etc"? So I agreed, why not.

I get taken outside to a Seat Ibiza. Lols. I had to inform them that this wasn't a leon, nor an FR... Pretty lame really.

It never ceases to amaze me the lack of knowledge some salesmen have of the cars they are trying to sell...
Ok I know they have a wider range to sell than only the model you research to death but jesus..at least learn the different shapes and sizes...

The secret is don't let the muppets drag you down to their level...

I remember a corker of a customer years back

I had a letter to my DP all because I said there was no such thing as a 3 door Leon

When I bought mine a year ago, I tried to get them to budge but there was 3 of us after the same car so I had to be quick on making decisions.

In the end, I got a few deals about it. It's all about working them (I have been on a purchasing course for my job) and I was told do one thing at a time, they agree to it so then move onto next one. YOU are in control NOT THEM. It's better than saying I was this, this and that - then only getting one!

I told mine I wanted 12 mths tax - DEAL, then I said full tank of Diesel - DEAL and then I asked for cambelt changing too lol!

Haha, the amount of times i've taken a couple of my friends somewhere and one tries to move the passenger seat forward to climb into the back, hilarious! You then tell them theres 5 doors and they still have absolutely no idea where the other handle is... :D

I find garages getting more difficult to deal with dont know if its because I am getting older but Sales peoples manners and not only in the Auto trade are getting a lot worse "Whatever" seems to be the word.
I dont know how some sales people are so up themselves most are on basic wage plus commision.
My attitude is one strike and out poor service = you can ram it, the world is a small place for the consumer so if not happy, do what I do go somewhere else. At the end of the day it comes back and bites their bum and we will all end up buying our cars online.

Yeah, what annoyed me was just how little the salesperson knew about Seat. I was asking about the injectors (recall), they didn't even know there was a recall. They also didn't know that there had been a facelift in 2009 (PD/CR) either.

I will still go back to look at the car though, after thoroughly summing up how much money I have with insurance, tax etc, I was able to snap down how much max I want to pay.

Then I started to sum up the prices of the car, from various dealers, private trades etc. I worked out that the car (as it's from a dealership) would be a max of £8,300 imo. If I paid that much, I'd want a few 'extras' thrown in (tank of fuel, MOT etc).

Tell me about it. Over the years going into BMW garages with my parents while they're looking for their next car. If they asked a salesman a question, and he couldn't give the answer within two seconds, i'd just say it. They honestly couldn't believe how much i knew about the cars, and tbf, how little they knew as well! It's embarassing when a 15 year old lad (at the time) can know more about the salesman does when that's their job.

When my car was in the dealers for the service, I was told the LCR goes through rear tyres fast, because its rear wheel drive. I couldnt be bothered correcting him.

UPDATE:

Went to look at the car today - test drove it, loved it.

Anyway I said that I got told the original price was £8k. Then, they said that they would do this offer:

£8k (cash)
Full Service
Full MOT from purchase date
Cambelt change

Also, the car has bluetooth in it as well :)

Crafty work from the dealership - getting £8k for the car which is what they wanted from the started. Still, as long as you're happy - you'll enjoy it!

Edit: Oh and make sure you get invoice/stamps for the cambelt work.
