My cupra tdi was pulling to the left so it's been in for 4 wheel alignment today which seems to have resolved the issue just about.

When I got home however I noticed that the rear drivers caliper had been binding due to the smell and heat coming off it. It was definitely not doing it this morning and before anyone asks I was not driving home with the handbrake on.

Is it possible the garage has caused this by something they have done or just a coincidence?

I didn't think there was much adjustment on the rear. Maybe toe adjustment but that shouldn't alter the hand brake.
It is very common for rear calipers to bind, a spring can be fitted to assist the mechanism on the caliper back to its home position. About £5 for both sides. Good guide on the Skoda forum, lookup rear caliper spring Skoda on Google.

Thanks for the reply. That is kind of what I thought as can't imagine what they could of done really just a coincidence.

You will probably need to remove the pads and file down the edges and then clean up the caliper where the pad sits and they rust up and this causes the brakes to bind. This happened on my car and after cleaning up the pads and caliper and putting copper grease on the pads it was fine.

Hi had this problem with my Leon, found the handbrake lever mechanism on the caliper was not returning fully. Make sure it returns all the way to the stop.
