Hi Lads

Euro part supplied the wrong pads and it seems they carnt trace the correct ones.

The rear pads on a 2014 184 are made by TRW and display a part number 5Q0 415 M but i can not trace that number.

Also on the pads are the following
0614 PKR
TX T4402

Need to order elsewhere as ECP haven't got a clue even with a picture of the old pad.

The OEM part number that you have quoted is incorrect/missing digits:

272mm rear pads should be 5Q0 698 451

(final letter denotes the mod state/manufacturer details).

Thanks mate but it ends in 415 not 451

The part number was take directly from the pad. Ill post a pic in a bit. Totally confused.

I would call TPS or dealer and confirm part number from your registration mark or chassis number.

This will leave no doubt.

Do you mean they're definitely wrong in that they're different dimensions or that the make/numbers don't match ? What did they send you ?

If not done already try Pagid brakebook - works off your reg no. What PR code does your boot sticker have - 1KS ?

Brembo have similar and both give similar pad tagged as for 'Lucas' not 'TRW' for 272mm with OEM ref no. as Compo1 stated above ie 5Q0698451 ?

Weird that the original pads have what is almost but not quite a VW Group part number on them.

Maybe check Textar cat for original fitment part number or kit part number as that "TX T******" number looks very much like a trade parts generic type number or a Textar kit number, and ECP still offer Textar, I think. (Mintex Pagid and Textar are all TMD Friction company names)

The part number on the pad isn't actually the brake pad set part number.

Rear pads for my 184 tdi 2014 ST are
5Q0698451B - These are marked 5Q0698415M (this is NOT the sales/axle set part number)
There are lots of other OE numbers which all link to the variation/equivalent of this part number.
5Q0698451F
8U0698451F
7N0698451A
5Q0698451L
2Q0698451A
2K5698451A
2K5698451B

And the Pr code should be 1KS - if its NOT then these numbers don't apply!
this is quite a good webcat.

Try searching to the OE numbers listed above in ebay - to see how the prices compare to Aftermarket TRW/Pagid etc.. pads?

If you're also changing the discs (Good idea to for less chance of noise) the large caliper mounting bracket bolts are torque to yield (should really be replaced) and also need a special M14 triple square tool.

The boot sticker does not have the PR code for either front or back brakes strangely

Yes, that part will fit - and may work fine? - but please don't think it is the same as the Original Brake pad.
That TRW part is an aftermarket pad - not genuine.
TRW make the brake caliper - NOT the pad - yes I know it says TRW on the pad - but that is just so you know the brake system. On this particular rear brake Textar make the OEM pad. Again - the Genuine pad and the Textar aftermarket are also different.
