Hello,

Has anyone experienced a rattle/vibration from the rear doors around the handle and tweeter area?

When my radio is on at certain points of songs there is a really annoying rattle coming from that area? I went out earlier and tried to locate it and found that if i pulled the internal door handle ever so slightly the noise would stop.

Has anyone had this with their Leon? And has anyone got any solutions to the problem?

Incase it makes a difference mine is a Leon FR 2.0 TDI CR (09)

Thanks

Adam

Not noticed a rattle from there on mine. Got a couple of others that I've given up trying to fix though. Now I just turn the stereo up a bit to drown them out...:D

I had the exact problem, and managed to solve it. Turns out at the bottom of the handle, there is a corner on the handle that touches the plastic surround, this vibrates/rattles on the plastic.
I took the panel out with the door handle on and behind it and managed to pull the cable a bit, this stops the rattle. So you just need a buffer to stop thecable from goig back. If pics are required tell me!

I had like 2 mins to try and explain so i will post some pics anyway haha... Sorry about that!

Thanks. Some pics would be great. Keen to get it sorted because it is very annoying.. The louder i turn the music up to try and drown it out the worse the rattle/vibration gets!! Haha!!

Apologies for taking so long, completely forgot!

Anyway, got some pics, i did the drivers side as its particularly obvious where the handle rubbed on the surround! So firstly, here is the problem:

The centre of the photo, there is a indented bit of plastic, thats the handle rubbing on the plastic. This is vibrating and causing the rattle. To sort the problem ive tried to get photos as best i can to help you:

The trim needs to come off! I start at the bottom side as i believe its easiest to access. Then just pull it off/shove a screw driver in to prise it away. Shown here:

Then when you get the whole piece off you will see the back side of the handle!

This is the hard bit to explain, iguess the easiest way to see what you need to do is when you have the trim off, (cable still attached) is to pull the handle, the metal part that moves off the buffer is that needs pushing outwards.

I got a clump of electrical tape and put that on to buffer it up a bit, you may wish to use something else, however it must be something that wont deform after some time for obvious reasons!

Buffering it up pushes the handle outwards slightly. It only needs to be pushed to far that the handle doesnt touch the plastic surround that was on the first photo. This will solve your handle rattling problems! My explaination is maybe not that good haha, but once the trim is off its an obvious solution.

Just to prove it is the handle rattling on the plastic trim, stick your stereo on, sit in the back seat and listen to the rattle, then pull the handle slightly and it will be gone :)

Hope i've managed to help!

I get a rattle from those areas even when the stereo is not on.
Could this be the cause or does this only apply to rattles when speakers are on.

It would be worth a go! get in the back and pull the handle and see if you can see any indent where the door handle might be rubbing (my first picture).
You could always try what i did anyway, if it doesn't make a difference you've lost 10 minutes of your time and a bit of electrical tape!

I've had a rattle in front n/s door window area since new .It's mainly when going over bumpier roads . Just hoping it will settle down as time goes on .
:)

Bad news!!! I have managed to fix the rattle/vibration that comes from the tweeter area but i now have another rattle in the rear passenger door thats actually worse..

Anyone got any suggestions what it could be? Ive checked the door panel etc to make sure its on properly and it seems fine?

Are the screws at the bottom tight?

I had my doubts when I read this, I didn't think this could be my rattle but after telling myself it must be I climbed in the back (once id stopped) and rattled the handle and it made the exact same noise. Unfortunately im lazy and didn't follow the above. I just got some sticky sided foam, cut a bit off and stuck it where the rub was. I'll let you know if it works but im confident :)

Oh my god I made a post asking about this but was unlucky no one answered me, now Ive found this YIPPIEE.

Many thanks
