Is there any way of fixing broken elements of a rear screen demister? I've tried the usual conductive paint stuff which didn't work. Other than 'accidentally' breaking it and having it replaced through my insurance is there any other way?

Are you sure you have used the conductive paint properly? Most cars you have to scuff the existing heating elements a little up before you get a good contact through it.
If that doesn´t work, its new window time.

I tried that Granville stuff but by all accounts it is garbage! Will try other stuff before I get the glass replaced as that is a last resort, but it's 4 lines right across the middle of the screen which is mega-annoying!!!
I left it overnight after giving it a couple of coats. I taped off the lines, coated all the breaks I could see on all 4 lines twice, left overnight in the garage, took the tape off the next day and it didn't work on any of the 4 lines.
I've used an official Renault kit in my work before, done the trick. I'll see if I can find a part number on it and whether it's the same as the Granville product. It came in a rather small nail varnish looking bottle with a white plastic cap/brush.
I'll have a look when I'm back in on Monday and let you know what I find

Hi, sorry to say, but it aint gonna cut it just taking the visual route. You need a LED 12 lamp or something to follow the current. You turn on the demister, put the negative end of the lamp on some ground on the vehicle, and then just trace along the line from one end to another. I have done multiple repairs where the cut isn´t visible.
I'm going to check them with a meter then do the repairs. Thanks for all the info, I have a Renault dealer just up the road so I'll nip up and ask them.

If its made by Renault, just be careful the touch-up bottle doesnt fall apart before you get it home 
OK so I've ordered the kit from Renault, not cheap at £28 so it better work! It this doesn't work then it is a £75 excess to replace the window if it gets accidentally broken.
Got the kit from Renault, says to use the backing stencil but there is no stencil in the kit, all that comes is a bottle of the varnish? Looks and smells totally different to the Granville stuff.
When i use the kit from renault (i work at renault) there is a brush down in the solution like a touch up paint.
That's what I'll be doing, masking tape, just seems odd that the kit tells you to use the stencil and there isn't one in the kit! It isn't really even a kit, just a bottle of conductive varnish. Yes there is a brush attached to the lid.
