Hi

My ibiza 1.9 tdi is just sat on springs on the back no dampers etc.

What are your guys views on this and whats my best course of action if im wanting to change this? Its on coilovers at the front and just a spring at the back.

I cant appear to find just rear coilovers so I'm trying to decide what to do? Can I just buy rear shocks and put the spring on them or buy rear lowering kit (shocks and springs) or just leave it. Think its making it a bit bouncy and bangs when over bumps

Thanks

Surely there are dampers fitted higher up the suspension arms? It is not Mcpherson struts on the back of the Ibiz\a like it is on the front.

hilton4942, in case you are wondering, that picture is of a rear damper with the lower fixing bolt removed, and it has been removed from where it is normally located - which is in the spring lower cup which is part of the rear axle/ARB assembly (torsion beam).

Yeah thats what its like.

So If I jacked up the car too high on the back it could just fall out.

Im sure its making my ride more bouncy and noisy.

The shocks will stop it going low enough for the springs to fall out.

Although the ones I removed were half the length of standard springs and when I was taking one side of the other did fall out!

Yeah think they are strut coilovers on front, no sign of labels or anything. Bit of a pain.

Nah dampers are there mate.

The shock is the cylindrical item on the right of that picture. Nothing wrong with that. Looks like someone has fitted lowering springs in the past.
