Hey,

Been thinking about getting the front windows of my FR tinted to match the rears..
Does anyone know what % of light the rears let through?
Legal min for fronts are 70%, be a shame to have 2 different shade of tint, probably look worse than without..

Ah, damn, shame about that. Seen so many cars fully tinted I assumed that there was one more level to go before you reached the illegal level.
Thanks for clearing that up :)

on monday will be going heavy tint on rear passenger and back windows.....heavy tint to day the least... but fronts as per thread will be left alone

im sure you can tint the fronts, not sure on the limits though.

id be curious to know as i was thinking of doing this aswell :)

I've just tried unsuccessfully to tint my windows today, pain in the A**rse! By law im sure you cannot tint the front windows. Would look good though.

On the market place I dont think there is a tint which is legally allowed to go onto the front windows. On paper technically speaking there is a tint that is fine but once put onto the front window it is a problem because the window is slightly tinted as standard.

I know someone who put this tint on the front window and got stopped by the police, when they tested the window they found it was 2% over the legal limit.

I saw the police program too lol, should have just waited a few hours instead of posting

I was confused because a lot of places that offer tinting services have galleries showing all round tints, I guess it's people just taking a risk.

I know for sure that if a copper saw a lowered motor with an aftermarket exhaust and darkened windows he's gonna stop you and test everything he can :censored:

Taking a risk for sure. It's like using show plates on your car. It's not illegal to buy or fit them, just illegal to use them on the road.

you can tint the fronts but as you say 70% light only, ive got the backs tinted too, you have to on a black car imo :) i was given the choice of 3, light tint which would be the same as the front, medium and then executive which is pitch black, i did worry about non-matching windows but i went for medium at the back and obviously light at the front. Looks really well imo and i can see fine out of the windows too so no worries about safety, one thing i will point out to leon drivers is that the back door handle area is plastic and cant be tinted so be aware you might have a spot that doesnt match but you have to look hard to notice

So your rears are now darker than standard? (if they were tinted in the first place)
Glad to hear that it looks nice.
I don't really want to go completely black so what you have sounds good.

yeah the rears and fronts are darker, they come a bit tinted with the fr i think anyway, i did think about going proper dark but i just thought the balance between the front and back would be too much, and now in the dark they pretty much match all round and its dark enough :)
