Rear Wiper Motor Fitting

I have just bought a 2004 Alhambra with a few problems, one of which is the spring that holds the rear wiper arm down scratches the glass when activated. Also, the nut cover gets pushed up so the rear wash just hits that instead of the screen and the wiper gets lift up so misses half the glass. I suspect it has had a new rear screen recently as there was parts of glass on each side in the storage compartments.

Having looked at it the wiper arm is too close to the glass. There is a wedge shaped fitting which seems to fix the motor to the glass.

Could anybody tell me which way round the wedge bit is. i.e. the thinnest part at the top or the bottom? And is there any special considerations needed when fitting a motor - I don't like the idea of tightening things onto glass!!

Thanks.

Must be different to my 2001 model, mine has 3 fixing bolts with rubber mounting insulators but is fixed to the metal panel below the window the shaft passes through the glass with a rubber grommet/sleeve to isolate it.

I've sorted it now. I had only looked at it in the dark with the tailgate panel on - from you description it sounds the same. Just 3 mounting bolts and a rubber grommit through the glass.

I had to remove the rubber mountings and refit it with some rubber I had in the garage - it needed to go up about 5mm! The rear screen has definitly been replaced and it appears to be about 5mm too high.

Job done now so no more scraping glass.

Just about finished wiring towbar in - found the wire colours for the brake and lights in the LH cluster the same colour (black with a white stripe)!! Easy enough to find out which is which but they could have used different colours - on the RH cluster the brake wire is black with a red stripe.

Just need to test it now after powering up the bypass relay. Fingers crossed.

All working as it should - just need to get parking sensors fixed (1 is in pieces) and see if I need to move the towing sockets - I thing I will, unlike the vectra I had.

Also theres the cruise to sort out - already tested the clutch switch. Does anybody know if the cruise light should be on when the cruise is switched on at the stalk but not engaged?
