Hi all

My car has an intermittent kind of hollow clunk when going over certain bumps at speed.
I'm thinking its either the front anti roll bar or the drop links.
Where is the best place to take my car to have it looked at under warranty in the Manchester area?
A Cupra or Seat approved dealer or does it not matter?
My car is a Cupra Ateca
Check the warranty paperwork and see what it say, hopefully it just says something along the lines of vat registered garage. If so take it to a decent independent specialist, such as volksmaster in Oldham. I’ve been using them for a few years now and they are decent.

Hi Jay

The car is a used approved so it needs to go to a either a Cupra or Seat main dealer.
Just wanted a heads up on the best place in the Manchester area to take it.

I recently got four new tyres fitted at Volksmaster in Oldham and yeah it seemed a decent garage.
They was very careful when doing my car although I did ask them before hand.

Did you use them for any troubleshooting/diagnostics or just servicing? I found them good for servicing but not so good at diagnosing issues. Long story short-ish I had clutch issues, they changed pretty much everything before trying the master cylinder, after I told them twice to check it. Should have been a simple job, box came out twice, two slave cylinders, dmf, clutch, pedal assembly and finally master cylinder. Can’t complain really as I got a lot of new bits from it, but they dumped over £2k on the warranty company. They just don’t seem to actually want to diagnose issues, just replace until fixed…..almost refused the car after 6 weeks of faffing 😂

edit: can’t fault them entirely, I had water collecting in the boot. They found it was the leaking air vents in the bumper and sorted it quickly with minimal fuss.

Hi all

So today I rang the service department at Cupra Bolton ( Perrys )
I was put through to a central service booking centre.
The woman took my details and then informed me the first available date for diagnostics was 10/07/2023!!
I said that cannot be right.
She then checked direct with the garage I think and confirmed the above date was correct.
I said what if the car was broke and she said try another garage.
She also seemed unaware of the Seat two year used approved warranty which the car came with??
I then rang Oldham Seat and again this was a central service centre.
After explaining the issue and them asking if I want a fuel flush and an air con recharge which I don't she said there are no appointments available??
I said this is a joke and she said she would look into it and ring back within 24 hours so we will see if she does!
Again she was unsure on the used approved warranty as she said due to the age the car is out of manufactures warranty.
I had to explain again the car came with a two year warranty so I wont be paying.
I will be contacting the Seat warranty direct to see what they say.
Not really the aftersales service I was looking for!

I had a rattle in the roof (obviously didn't do it when testing with a tech) which they fixed first attempt and for servicing...no complaints.

Perrys, and that's where mine came from new. The Connect App is supposed to share service reminder data with the dealer who tell me its overdue but is nowhere near according to the App (and the car). On collection I had to ask if the boot carpet was an optional extra...it was missing but found in the workshop! One tip for you (not all dealers though) is don't take the "If you would like to make a booking" option press (whatever) as you'll almost certainly end up at the Call Centre, and if it doesn't follow the script on the computer then...............

So

Oldham Seat which is a Pentagon dealership never rang back after promising they would within 24 hours.
Absolute joke service.
Probably because I wasn't interested in an air con service and a fuel flush which they tried selling me.:ROFLMAO:
How do you get through to the actual service department in each garage as they all use central call centres?
I will just take it direct to the garage if needed!
At least its booked in at Perrys on the 10/07/2023:LOL:
I will contact the used approved warranty as in the booklet and let them sort it if needed.

Sometimes an option will be "If your vehicle is in with us press..." and this usually gets you direct to Service Reception. Not all dealers will have this option though and ALL calls will go through to the Call Centre no matter what you select. I may be 'old school' but I want to talk to the Dealer directly not a 'faceless telephone operative' (no offence to them) who I'd never have any personal interaction with.

I ended up ringing Pentagon back as nobody rang back and this time spoke to a guy who seemed clued up on the used approved warranty etc.
The first date they have to look at the car is 09/06/2023!
Not great if your car if your is undrivable is it?
Luckily I don't think mine is nothing major.
Would like it looking at and fixing sooner though.

Lead times currently are just ridiculous, local Kia dealer (not the one I used) wanted min 6 week lead time on an interim service for my wife's car  (then if I also needed a car............!!)

Yeah seems like all main dealers are busy.
What happens if you are late on a service due to the fact you cant book it in and you need a warranty claim?
They could argue the car was not serviced on time etc!
The dates I was offered did include a courtesy car but I think they were the first available dates.

On the second annual service on my wife's car last year the Main Dealer I phoned (Kia owned) couldn't fit the car in within less than a month so when I asked... "will that affect the warranty as it will be over a month from registration anniversary?" she replied "probably". Needless to say I didn't use them and found another dealer who could fit it in.

Lead times were often "what time can you bring it in?" back in the day even though we tried to keep a 'full diary'.

Basically they are probably selling more cars than they can provide aftercare/service for.
If you report a fault during warranty they should honor it you have tried booking it in only to be told the lead time takes you out of the warranty or servicing schedule.

Its the same as trying to get a doctors or dentist appointment these days.

Going to book its October service in soon.:ROFLMAO:

My wife's previous car (i10) had a steering column fault just at the end of its 5 year warranty but couldn't be done because of Covid lockdown. Fortunately they honored the repair with a new column which was done 'out of warranty'.

And so they should. (y)
It failed within warranty but obviously you couldn't take it due to covid lockdown!
