Hey iv got a bright red mk4 prefacelift an iv recently put a facelift front bumper on it which o thought was the same colour until it was fitted, the new bumper seems to be a slight shade darker than the car........I wondered I there's more than one bright red colour for the mk4s or whether the paint on the rest of the car has just died a little through the years? Sorry I know it sounds silly but I know how easy red paint can change over the years!

i done a search and found some seat paint codes not sure if the three reds that are in there are all for the mk4 ibiza but it might help.

I think the facelift's were emocian red instead of flash red?

I may be wrong but i'm sure you could could get the emotion (sp?) red in the pre-facelift too. I remember seeing some when I was looking for my car

BTW jake, check your car sticker in your boot or instruction manual. The paint code will be there

It is worth considering that while it is technically the same colour, when the paint is mixed it will NEVER be the same as any other batch of the same paint. Environmental factors, as well as altering the amounts of each ingredient by even a few mg will alter the final outcome.

Just the way these things go really - :/

The red looks very slightly different between the bumpers and the rest of the car on my emocion red Cupra. I've had it from new so everything is original. I think it's down to the bumpers being plastic underneath and the rest of the panels being metal. Reds can fade really badly; t-cut and polish will bring back the colour.

Hmmm so do you all think it's not worth spraying? It sounds like I could have a similar problem even after spraying? I wonder if vinyl would work abit better......Iv worked prices out to be roughly the same to the cost of spraying so I guess it's an option?

Get it sprayed mate. I had my entire front end redone last year because of stonechips etc and the colour match is bang on! If I have understood you right it seems that you have bought a bumper off of another red (albeit facelift) Ibiza. If this is the case then the colour difference will be down to the fact that the 2 batches of paint that were mixed at te factory will never be exactly the same. Whereas any decent bodyshop will be able to mix the paint to a good colour match to your specific car. Hope that makes a bit of sense?

well yeh i mean i bought the bumper thinking there was only one bright red for the ibiza's, the colour difference is considerably darker on the bumper than the rest of the car.....it basically makes the paint on the car look likes its dyed over the years lol.

Well, as i said, get it sprayed, as any bodyshop worth their salt will be able to get a good colour match to your specific car. But you will find that the emocion red on one SEAT will differ to near enough any other by a fraction of a shade anyway due to how/when the paint was prepared/applied. This will also cause paint to age slightly differently on each car too. Its related to the chemistry of the paint aswell as the physical characteristics, such as how its bonded to the base coat and how it reacts to heat etc. (theoretically these things will be the same - but in reality they will differ slightly each time).

Im also interested in knowing how much will cost. My rear bumper on my aero kit doesn't quite match the car. If it isnt to much I may get it resprayed.

it isnt to much out just if you catch it in the wrong light it shows.
