red steering wheel light

hello peeps
i need your help
got in the car this morning to go work, turn the key and it happens to be that i had a flat battery
rolled it down the street and sumhow managed to get it bump started
one problem
all the lights went off besides the red steering wheel light and steering is heavy as f&%k
my arms are absolutly killing me
any idea were the power steering fuse is
or what the problem might be
plugged it into.a scanner and all that came up was steering malfunction

If you turn the car off and back on it should work ok.
The steering will only work when the control unit can see an alternator charge signal and by bump starting it that doesn't happen quick enough.

the cars starts ok now but red light wont go out
i get 3 beeps before i start the car

battery voltage is 14.4 with the engine running

Can you delete the error in the steering system?
I'd imagine it could only be a battery voltage error.
Either that try disconnecting the battery for 5 mins and then reconnect.
If its only a battery voltage glitch this would clear it.

the wonderful world of electronic power steering. hydraulics where renowned for being on of the most reliable inventions of all time and then they go and replace it with a ecu controlled electric motor. i had a fiat punto with electronic steering and it stopped working due to an alignment issue but the garage quoted me £500+ to supply and fit a whole new sterring column. i however re-aligned it myself.

You can't put a fiat in the same boat as a Leon!
Punto columns failed on piece probably the most unreliable electric steering ever made.
The reason they moved from hydraulic steering is for price ie cheaper to manufacture with less parts and also emissions as the engine was driving an additional pump etc.

iv had the battery on charge gor a good few hours
hopefully this will sort it
my battery is weak no doubt

soon as put the key in ignition i get 3 beeps
car starts fine

But did you disconnect battery or just charge it?

I checked with vcds on group 44 and found the next

00003 - Control Module
014 - DEFECTIVE
reset it and it came straight back up

Sounds like it may be knackered mate.
Surely if it was a fuse it would say power supply or something.

the light your on about is amber and goes out in no time
anyone with any other ideas

jus had the vcds plugged in and noticed the steering angle sensor isnt picking anthing up
steering angle remains at 0 degrees no matter how much i turn the wheel but the angular acceleration fluctuates with my movement of the steering wheel
any ideas lads

mine stayed on as well after i had a flat battery and i had to go for a 50m drive befor it turn off. it say in the hand book (if the battery is diconneected or flat, the indicator remains lit, even with the engine running.the warning light only goes off after a distance of 50m)
