Dont know if single rods can be bought. But cant see it being that, i was just using that as a example. A few things can cause low comp.

Iam very curious to know whats going on with it as i spent lots of time getting it right. The engine always sounded "Forged" as Bill put it, and so does my Octy but this is normal, worse when cold.

Keep us updated.

I know you did mate, ive read your thread a few times :)

wish you'd have gone 1.9 to start with when you rebuilt the engine but then you might not have sold it and i wouldnt have ended up buying it off derrick

was saying to bill how its funny being a small world, ive got your old car, you've got his, hes got your clio which is similar to a mate of mine that lives opposite him who used to have a yellow ibiza the same lol

lol My reasons for selling the beeza were purely financial at the time, would have still had it otherwise. Really love that car.

Very small world indeed. One of my good mates has bill's old Golf GTI aswell.

If your going 1.9 i have a nice GT3071R-WG 90 trim turbo here.

lol, i think i'll stick with what ive got power wise, just want it running 100%, and reducing the lag as much as possible, think if i went 1.9 id get a bigger inlet manifold (SEM) and then get it tweaked to around 380.
Why didnt you go 1.9 out of curiousity?

Didn't want to take the engine out then send off block for machining. I didn't see that much benefit, the octy seems no faster to spool up at all, 4K Rpm full boost and goes like hell, only difference is Octy uses 100% of power most times, but does spin all 4 wheels in the wet sometimes in 2nd gear lol

There is obviously a small benefit to going 83mm bore but i didn't want the hassle.

Another option would be, fit supertech double valve springs and Ti retainers and get rev limit raised to make more use of power up top. ( a wider power band )

I may do this with the Octy and slap The GT3071R back on for its 460 BHP

Well its true i hadnt thought of that that as a possibility, but im happy only revving to 7k, i just want it to kick in a bit earlier really, but now i reckon getting it running 100% is top priority.
The EML for SAI has been a bit of a red herring as the EML was on constantly when i got it but there hasnt been a single code for it and just made the EML for this be ignored, as soon as I plugged a lambda probe in the code disappeared but came back under missfire (not even noticeable though) for cylinder 4 plus the negative deviation code after a bit of driving, and goes again once codes are cleared. I know its definitely not 100%, the lumpy idle etc is quite irritating for me and im not going to be satisfied til its sorted so time will tell, i just hope its not too expensive to fix because its a great car to drive.

Do you have a way of testing vacuum at idle? Thats a very quick check to see if things are ok.

idle reading on the apexi is now between 382 and 404, but i think your reading was prior to raising the rpm by 100

its booking in on thursday for compression test

comp was fine, there were a few small boost leaks when pressure tested, and have plugged the n75 back in and its fooookin quick, if this is 360 it cant have been running more than 320-330 before.

on the apexi, it records peak boost doesnt it?

only i looked down after booting it and it said +2.23, is that safe? it only ever hit about +1.54 with the apexi controlling boost before but it was mapped with n75 so should be ok no?

You can record 60 seconds on the Apexi using the graph function. Press the up button. Down button to replay and the left and right button to review.

Or select the analogue or digital display and press the up button. This will give you peak boost.

Let us know how you get on with the N75. I took mine off as after a few days the boost would drop off or creep......randomly. Thus an Apexi EBC for me.........now perfect.
