Well my mystery misfire on my remapped FR at the top end of 4th is back

No faults stored in the car, no dodgy diesel ever used, Millers additive used every tank from new 5000 miles ago, no DPF issues . . .

BIG PROBLEM !!!!

The way forward now is to let SEAT read the vehicle codes online while its plugged in to our VAS5051 but they can tell if it has been remapped - apparently they scan all the binary codes and can pick up amended values. We had a warranty invalidated at our other branch because of this so its not bulls**t. Looks like my only option now is to get it mapped back to standard and that will either remove the problem (bad remap) or let us fix an underlying problem.

BOTTOM LINE - YOUR DEALER MIGHT NOT KNOW ITS BEEN REMAPPED BUT SEAT WILL :([:@]

Yeah I would love to be proved wrong - I dont want to scaremonger but it is a genuine concern. Personally I dont care if we get a remapped car in for warranty repairs but if we have to involve SEAT then the problems start . . . .
I would really welcome any other facts or experiences.

Michael I honestly dont think it is and wouldnt even suggest it unless I was 100% sure but I got my remap done when the car was brand new and never had it really wound out. My problem now is that Im caught - I have to undo the remap to make any headway either with a faulty remap or a vehicle problem involving SEAT.
The problem is that if Im accelerating hard in 4th (yes I know its not exactly legal speed ) there is a very noticeable pause at 3000, 3500 and 4000rpm I havent had a road where I can test it in 5th gear as I would be pulling 120 lol It has all our guys beaten. Surely if it was the remap it would be there in all gears???? dunno

The problem is there every time? It sounds similar to the problem the petrol guys have when they remap - they get fuel cuts because the pump cant deliver enough fuel.

Maybe if you speak to your remapper to reduce your over fuelling my be a start?

Im no expert though.

Yeah on the FR its a really fine line on fuel delivery because of the DPF. Too much fuel causes DPF problems as it clogs up. I thought possibly not enough fuel but who knows? Next couple of weeks will provide an answer I hope

As a dealer, can't you just flash the ECU back to standard?

Some remaps are going to cause more DPF problems than others, but the long and short of it is the regeneration process is flawed and the systems don't work correctly. DPF bypass! ;)
DPF can cause hesitation issues without there seemingly being any DPF problem!

We've not had any issues with the SEAT importers that sell our product or with the main dealers that use it. To check the binary in the ECU they would have to read it out, what they could be checking is the reflash counters and other info as such.

'Unofficial' conversation with a decent SEAT UK guy. To get to an online telediagnosis with SEAT Technical, the car will have been under discussion for some time with the dealer reporting via 'DISS report' emails and getting advice back to try different things. The online intervention is a last resort but obviously a very real possibility and if your motor is stuck in a dealers workshop you are never going to get it out to undo a remap. Looks like a case of 'you take your chances'
Also, re the ECU flash, when you stick the disc in and connect to the car it actually asks you if the car is remapped. Maybe it does overwrite settings but maybe it will just mess it up. Big risk.

Sorry to hear about your issues with your car mate. Ive asked a VW approved mechanic I know about the misfiring and he thinks its probably not enough diesel going to the injectors in the higher rev range.

He says the reason it only occurs in the higher gears is becasue there is greater load being placed on the injectors at these speeds but the ECU is not letting enough fuel through.

Just a possibility???

all the advice is going that way. rang SEAT technical and had an 'off the record' chat with a really sound bloke. this fault is known to them but only on remapped cars!!!!!!!!! apparently its the injector pulsing in an attempt to deliver to enough juice, turning an underfuelling situation into an overcompensation. all sounds very complicated but its the best explanation so far. Kev is right about DPF misfire issues but I think the symptoms are slightly different.
