Hi guys,

I'm new to the 1.8t world so excuse my lack of knowledge on the platform. I'm looking to get my LCR mapped at some point this summer and was wondering who I should go to.

I've previously had a couple of MK5 GTI's and I've always gone to R-tech for them as they are widely regarded as the best in the business for the TFSI engines.

I've currently got a Badger 5 TIP and a open cone filter, but everything else is stock - I may get an exhaust, but I'm not 100% on this yet.

I've had a search, and a lot of the forum results are VERY old when it comes to tuning the MK1 LCR. I'm based in Essex so AMD in Thurrock are my local guys - but I don't mind travelling if it means I get the best guys dealing with my car.

Thanks

Hi.
Good car choice.
I’d have a look at r tec again. Also bill at Badger5 and Ben Parsons at devil developments.
All are at the top of their game with the 1.8T.
They are all a drive from you.
Bill is in Stroud and Ben in Shepard’s Bush. Worth the travel time in my opinion.
I drive nr 2 hrs to see bill with my car.
As to exhaust, I’d say do it.
But defo change downnpipe with it. It’s the choke point.
Breathing is key.
If you have a custom mapping session suited to your car then exhaust will make a difference for sure. Sounds way better too if you do away with one of the silencers. .

Thanks Sparkie!

I may well end up going back to R-tech as I've got another MK5 which I'll be taking up there again soon. I was just curious as to find out whether there was anybody closer to me who specialises in these cars. I take it the fact you ignored AMD I should probably steer clear too? - I have used them for servicing on the MK5's and they've been really good to be fair, but never for any tuning work.

Could you give me more details about Ben at Shepards Bush? The only Devils developments I can find are way down south - but Shepards Bush isn't quiet as far so may be worth a trip down to Westfields for some shopping too!

I'd much rather get a custom map rather then a generic map which is why I'd rather steer clear from Revo (no offence intended) and the likes.

With regards to exhaust - I want to keep it looking as stock as possible, this is the only thing really putting me off. Do you have any recommendations on the downpipe / full system?

Thanks again

As with most 1.8s its cobra or mil tec
Or custom.
No need for it to look anything but standard. Just have an oval tail pipe. 6x4 slash cut. Very similar. As in my readers ride.

Oh my - That looks perfect - almost identical to what I'd hope for!

With regards to the downpipe...Decat or Sportscat? Oh and 3" is the one to go for right? I've got a quote for a Relentless downpipe which seems pretty reasonable considering it's 3" diameter.

Also I think you may have missed my question in the previous post...Devil Developments in Shepards Bush...Do you have any details for them?

Thanks again

Ok
3” Downpipe & decat if you want full potential. Sports cat if you’re keen to be fully legal.
Remember decats smell more when stationary or crawling. Stinks of fuel.
Also make best sound.
I have both. I have a section that can be bolted in and out to add the sports cat.

Gives me full potential on track.
Ok as for Ben.
You’re best off contacting him on messenger. Search him out on FB, Benjamin Parsons
( he’s also a member of #teamcupraR on fb )and message him.
He’s very good and seems to be the one everyone’s going to see at present. I believe he shares Devils premises and works with them as an independent.
He will smoke test and check health of car first. Then work his magic. If it’s your thing he does over run with pops and bangs n flames too.
He has a great rep in out fb club.
Maps lots of the cars in there at the mo. If you get stuck let me know and I’ll hunt him out.
As for AMD I’m saying very little.
They are a good bunch with a decent rep but I have seen figures that would bend the con rods if a normal R was mapped.
Not confident and also their map is probably been around since hens started laying.
Get Ben to do a custom session on the rollers. Probably an extra 50 quid and it’s tailored to your car. Happy days.

Where did you get the diffuser mate?

Where do I get a system like this? It'd be good to be able to alternate between decat/cat for when needs must. With your current set up, it looks like you can change it on some ramps which is ideal!
