Happy new year to you all. I see most of you go for either Revo or APR remaps and I can see the results are impressive but has anyone any experience of "Quantum Tuning"?
They promise 350 bhp and 460 torques for £250. They also reckon on being one of the biggest suppliers of remaps - I checked their feedback and its mostly positive although I believe this can be doctored but they first came to my attention when my son had them chip his focus ST and he is very pleased with the result. Can anyone steer me away from them? Cheers.

I used VWR/Racingline for my map :) I think maps are very much the case of ‘you get what you pay for’. There are some threads on here where people have paid £150, £250 etc for a map promising those kind of power gains, and in fact they got like 10bhp increase or something stupid like that.

I had my mk3 184 FR Revo tuned a few weeks ago, no complaints and very very pleased! The Black Friday deal was too good to resist (25% off ) as i'd been umming and ahhhing for months about pulling the trigger. Apparently they are now only holding 1 discount a year (Black Friday), possibly 2, but don't hold out too much hope for them dropping a random sale any time soon. Regardless I'd recommend it even at full price.

Did look at cheaper alternatives, like Celtic tuning, but decided not to take the risk.

The other good thing with Revo (if you go that way) is that if you go stage 2 after stage 1 you only pay the difference between the software not the full stage 2.

Not to complicate things or put a spanner in the works, but the Racingline OEM+ map is quite a good deal - pay for stage one, and get the next stages free. So stage two is free and stage three is free. As long as you have the required hardware to support the stages - stage two is just a full induction kit and large bore downpipe, stage three requires hybrid turbo and upgraded intercooler. Much like everyone else :)

Are they generic maps or do you need to get it on the dyno?

They used to have a dyno - not sure what they have now tbh to develop. But when I’ve had a map from them, they’ve already had the map for my ECU code developed and ready on file. They’ve had my car just over a month fine tuning their maps. It’ll have their DSG map on it when I pick it up too :)

They must have a dyno somewhere - just not at their head office where I’ve been to in Milton Keynes, they used to have a dyno there but not anymore - but the maps are already developed and out for general sale at authorised resellers. They have another location to use to fine tune/tweak and develop new and existing maps. Can’t remember for the life of me where it is (which is bad given my car has been there for over a month!)

Visiting a dyno set up is very informative. Some tuners only do WOT runs, others do several light load/part throttle runs as well. That's the right, but expensive way.

I’ve checked and their development Center and dyno is in Bruntingthorpe - currently where my car has been for the last month. Helped them make tweaks to their ECU and DSG maps.

Whatever happened to Superchips? Wern't they the leaders in the industry and the go to firm if you wanted a remap?
