My remote central locking has broken. i can use the key and the central locking still works it just seems to be whatever sense the remote. I have changed the batteries in the remote and the red light on the key still lights up when the buttons are pressed.
It is a mk2, S reg Ibiza TDI. Is this a common problem?

my locking has also broken....
i dont have door locks (only boot and remote). if anyone has auto data could you let me know how to recode the key for my locking system?

this could be the same problem you have? just not working by the button?

1 ignition on to red lights on dash
2 turn off immediately and pull key out
3 hold 1 of the buttons down (dont matter which)
4 PRESS the other 3 times ( with a SLIGHT pause) 1 . 2 . 3
5 watch led on key (should flash) and doors usually try lock/unlock
6 turn ignition key back on to red lights and wait 5 sec
7 key out again and test operation

fix your locking so it works manually first otherwise you are wasting your time

ok ill try that one, i was told another way of doing it but it didnt work.
my doors were de locked by the previous owner so cant get in through there but can through the boot. (yes its a bit embarrassing at the supermarket climbing through the boot to open my doors)

had a go at it this morning and it didnt seem to make the slightest bit of difference!!
The key lit up as you said but didnt attempt to lock or unlock during the process.

any other idea's?

I have found you need to fick the ignition on and off about 4 times fast and then do the key thing, as said should lock and them unlock once sorted.

I decided to give it a go anyway (whats the worst that could happen) and it worked a treat , i got my C/L back lol Thanks a tonne , HUGE HELP

hi, i have a 05 plate ibiza. the remote central locking has stopped working. changed battery still no joy. can i code it my self?

That's gonna be a mk4 which i'll confess i have never done yet

probaly similar to the leon coding though at a guess

do you no how that works?

for mk4 ibiza copied from another thread, note you'll need 2 keys to do this

- start with car locked

- unlock with key manually at drivers door lock

- IGN ON with key ... leave it there

- use remote key to lock the car manually at drivers door lock

- remove remote key from door lock

- press "lock" at the NEW key, indicator lights will flash

- then hold the "unlock" for ~3 sec. and indicators will flash long and the doors should unlock

- coding procedure should be successfully finished.

cheaper/easier to get a key cut local locksmith ? it's only to code the remote after all

or better still get the dealer to plug it in and recode it for ya ?

will the dealer programme a key that they haven't cut for immobiliser? where could i get a blank key?

still having problems with the remote control. nothing seems to be working. Is there anything else that could be wrong?
not understanding why it is fixing everyone elses and not mine.
What senses the remote and where is it located? I may have to check for wiring issues.

control box is under the top of the dash, take out the glove box, look up where the glove box should be and you will see it mounted near the top.
black box, about 6 wires going to it about 5" square if I remeber right.
