Over the past few months my Ibiza has become rather temperamental with the remote locking.
The remote locking only works intermittently, and only when very close to the car.
I initially thought the battery required replacing in the fob, so I did that and it improved things for about 2-3 few locks & unlocks before it stopped working properly again.

I then thought the original key may be on its way out, so I bought a flip key from eBay which I eventually got to reprogram this evening. It's made no difference, I have to hold the key a few cm away from the driver's side door/quarter for it to work; and again it works very infrequently.. once every 10 presses if I'm lucky!

Has anyone got any ideas what the problem may be?

I think problems with the microswitches or die failed solder joints in the door module, normally driver's door, is one possible cause. I've been living with the same problem for about nine months. Haven't yet had time to get stuck into tracking down the problem.
