Hi everyone.
I want to replace the gear shift knob.
When I tried to remove the original knob I've encountered a problem.
There seems to be no way to remove the knob. There's a metal ring that holds the knob quite hard.
How do I remove it?
The assembling of the new knob seems quite easy so there should be no problems with it.
Thanks for the help :)

Hey,
I think you just have to break that metal ring off, there might be a way just to loosen it though. When mine was removed it was just loosened.
Hope this helps!

:)

Success!!
I made the ring wider with a screwdriver...
Now there's a new problem... the new knob dosen't fit the stick...

becaue a cupra is nice and classy inside and the standard gearknob is nice. as soon as you change it it's gonna look chavvy and maxpowerish imo!

Sorry don't agree with you there... So you think the SEAT Sort gear knobs look chavvy... Plus there are some very nice spherical Momo gear knobs... To be honest your are allowed your own opinion but everone has different tastes.

yes but, i just think the interior of a cupra should be left standard, IMO of course.

Nothing chavvy about this:

(**** picture, sorry!)

Its the Seat Sport knob with the cupra r leather handbrake!

Nope, dont think there is anything wrong with the seat sport knob apart from the price.

Would be a differant matter if it had flashing Leds on it lol

David.

trying to remove my gearknob in my 2001 cupra to replace with the Seat sport one (as above)

just can't get the origonal to budge, lifted the gaitor and located the silver metal ring.

I can make the ring loose but just can't get the knob to shift, suggestions?
is it a pull off or twist off?

thanks
