Has anyone removed there exhaust manifold on a 1.8t,
how easy was it to do and what problems did you come up against when taking it off?
Cheers

Yeah, done this many times.... no problems getting it off or back on. You will need gaskets for every time you replace it though and I'd get new nuts as well. Think they where 12mm nuts, ring spanner will fit. Replaced mine with INA manifold and JBS manifold.

What are you doing replacing it with an aftermarket product?

One of the the bolts to the turbo is apparently a mission...have a look for Damoegan's old progress thread, he changed his mani and took some good pics I think.

Use plenty of lubrication oil otherwise the bolts will snap when you try and remove them. Use a 1/2 drive socket with a decent wrench so you can get some leverage/torque because the bolts are probably siezed and need some force to remove.

Have a look at this thread. The bolts are hard to do because of the enlarged runners on the INA manifold. You couldn't get the spanner back on the nut to much of a tight squeeze as the runners where enlarged, while JBS did think about refitting, however there is one nut at the bottom of the JBS manifild near the turbo was difficult to get back on.

But if your removing the manifold and and putting the same one back on again.... no problems
