Hi,

I'm ashamed to say I produced a dent in the rear bodywork of my car today, first time I've ever done it and am both gutted and angry.

My friends have aired the suggestion that I remove the inside trim of the rear door on my Leon and either push the dent out myself or take it to a friend who is clued up with cars and get them to do it.

Does anyone have any experience of doing this? Any advice would be much appreciated :).

Thanks,

Euan

There's a door trim removal guide in the leaking door seals FAQ:

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=44216

You'll have to scroll through it though as there are over 50 pages!

I took my front door trim off this week to sort a leaky seal. You need to prize the internal door handle (black plastic handle, not the metal door opener) apart along the split line (use a screwdriver and lever the two halves apart starting from the back end - the two halves are held together by little metal clips which you need to make sure are in their original positions before reassembling the handle.).

Once the door handle's off, you can see two large philips screws which need to come out. then there are two small T-20 torx fittings along the bottom edge of the door trim to remove. Then the whole trim should come off with some encouragement - lever it outwards and lift it up. You'll need to disconnect the wiring connectors to the tweeter, electric windown switch and coor courtesy light - squeeze the tabs inwards and pull off the connectors. Also unhook the cable from the door opening handle.

You may break some plastic trim clips so it's worth ordering some spares from Seat - the part no. is in the above thread (somewhere!).

Then you'll see a metal panel bolted to the door which needs to be removed before you can get to the door panel behind it. I've not yet done this but I gather the window sits in this panel so it might be a good idea to lower it first. Check the thread for more details. Might as well renew the door seal (around the outside of the metal panel) at the same time as they are renowned for leaking...

Non-electric windows

The link to the thread is spot on for removing the door panels except I can't for the life of me find out how to take them off around the handles for winding the windows up and down in the back.
Only my front doors have electric windows.....
Any help?
