Ahh sounds cheers for that Ben :) That was the best run of the day, i'm pretty happy with the time tbh.

I miss the noise of my old car with the seats out etc.

13.48 is the right side of 13.5 :).

You going to try and get her down to 12's?

I know it sounds mental doesn't it!!! Soooo don't wanna put them back in this afternoon :(

I was thinking the night before that if I got between 13.6-13.8 it would have been ok. I was a bit worried as I haven't done a dyno (for what their worth...) yet so I have no idea what the car is running. Also, you see fluctuations between quoted Stage 2+ figures of anything from 340bhp to 380bhp; I didn't want to turn out to be one of the unlucky ones...
Honestly, I was dead chuffed with the time.

The easiest way to 12's is probably a WOT box, some lightweight wheels + slicks. I can't do without the AC or anything like that as it is a proper daily drive car.

I wasn't planning on spending anymore money on it as I'm technically still trying to sell it! However I reckon £3800 would get it into the 12's but it's a lot of money :(

I never had a WOT box in mine, but the lighter wheels make a difference in my opinion. You lose approx 3kg a wheel as memory serves and 14kg from the OEM battery to a lightweight battery. Dumping the cat saves a few kg and although the a/c core doesnt weigh much, it allows more air on to the intercooler.

2.1 second 60 foot times are possible. Owen managed this with all his practice before the day and perhaps the WOT box assisting a little. Best I could do was 2.2, so if you are in 2.4-2.5 territory, you have 0.3-0.4 seconds to lose there which would make your time down to very low 13's :)

already dumped the cat ;)
can't do without AC, the missus would kill me!
lot's of people swear by a wot box - as much as 0.5 sec impreovment for 1/4 mile times! not quite as good as having dsg but still not bad for £200 fitted!
Which battery, Braille? A 14Kg loss is almost like losing the spare wheel + jack & bar etc. again!!!
i must say, this drag strip thing is pretty addictive... expensive too!

To be honest, I never properly used the WOT box when I drove that car, but I dont think it would save 0.5 seconds. At the end of the day, you still manually need to move the gearstick like you would without the WOT Box.

Cant remember the battery I bought, but it is a fair saving in weight for sure.

hmmm i think the halfords one is a pretty good quality bit of kit. also that is for one, its handy having a set of 7 plus it comes with a mounting rail so they are about the same on price. i'd rather buy something from halfords than ebay at the end of the day.

True, true... perhaps a short shifter would help that providing it's not overly notchy. which is considered the best? Did you get a lot of pops and bangs with the WOT box?

Is this on regular road tyres? What sort of pressure's?

The best i could manage was a 2.2 also.

Yeah I agree Al, there's no way a WOT box will shave 0.5 seconds off over the 1/4 compared with a fast shifter.. DSG doesn't even do that..

The difference between our cars is 0.75sec Ben... They are both stage 2+ right?

Plus you don't need to strip it bare and the buzz that easily acheivable sub 7 second 0-100mph gives, with the front wheel hovering just above the deck, is better than anything this side of Vettel's Red Bull!

.. And then some doris pulls out in front of you and you end up becoming part of a tree.. :scary:
I appreciate how much a bike can get a man's adrenaline pulsing, but one mistake from you or some tit coming the other way and it's dental records and finger prints time.. For that reason I prefer my cage of steel and airbags.. ;)

Yes and no really.. Same Stage of tune, yes. But different mileage, different drivers, different launchs etc etc. With 1/4 mile a lot can vary IMO. Otherwise every standard car would run the exact same time regardless of driver. Or put it another way, you would run the same time every time you run your car, when in fact we know that isn't the case. For example, I ran a 13.3 on my first run yesterday, as it lit up one of the wheels in 2nd. :(
Once you've got more practise under your belt Pat, I bet you can get a 13.2 with the car as it is now.. :)

What were your 60ft times Pat? Have you got your slip to hand that you can put up to compare...?

Owen was running R1R's. I was running brand new tyres the day I made 12.9 in mine. Had I not spent 3/4 of the day driving the Leon Cupra R, may have improved on my launches. Will never know now, but I would have got a 12.8 if I did manage a 2.1 second 60 foot time.

Interesting terminal speed increase on your last run there Ben - wasnt your best terminal 110 before, and 114 yesterday?

I dunno mate I was pretty happy with my runs and they were reasonably consistant:

1st - 13.6x (first run, gimme a break! lol)
2nd - 13.48
3rd - 13.58
4th - 13.53
*these are from memory, i'll update and correct where necessary later on*

I can't really see dropping 2-3 tenths with the car as it is...

No Al, my best terminal speed when Stage 2 was around 109-110mph. Since going Stage 2+ it has risen a fair bit for obvious reasons.. I ran a 114mph terminal when I ran the 12.9 last month..
Full interior..

Yesterdays runs with rear seats out...

As you can see, my 60ft time is considerably better (better conditions) and if I had run them on the 12.9 run, it would of given the same results IMO. So whether the seats made any difference or not, i'm not sure  My 12.73 run was a mint start, but I got a slight pause from the box when changing into 2nd, so think it cancelled the advantage out :( I'm pretty sure with the perfect run, the car has a 12.6 in it, but I will never know now and i'm more than happy with the results from yesterday tbh...
My last run was against a Mk2 FRS with a Jamsport 400 kit. Messed the start up a tad and he got a good 2-3 car lengths on me and I thought game over!!! Only to then reel him in and pass him fairly comfortably tbh. His face after the run was a peach.. Think his exact words were something like " How the F**K did you manage to pull that back?"... :D

Did you not get your slips then I take it mate?

Puzzles me a bit, but I wonder how mine made it comfortably in to the 115's being manual and all.
